Best KPortal Reviews

Stockyard been around a long time. Their steaks are always good. Excellent service. We had a dinner there with 9 friends. The price come to just under $100 per person. Most couples order their 32oz Tomahawk with 2 sides for only $95. Very good deal. Their ribeye and prime rib are also excellent. Most of their steaks are aged 45 days.
Pros:
- Excellent Service waiter was always around asking if we needed anything & making sure our cups were full.
- Mens Bathroom was clean for the age but smelled musty.
- Al cart sides are big enough for 2 to share.
- Steak was not over seasoned.
Cons:
- Food was not at all hot (do not expect steak to be) but sides were luke warm at best
- Mashed potatoes are very light/airy/fluffy hard to describe. Tasted fine but not very filling.
- Ordered my steak medium rare came out medium well (no pink). I am sure I could of sent it back but by then my sides would either be colder or I would have been full from them.
- Very dark (we went at 5pm). Decor is outdated which is fine and I prefer the cozy feel but, the lighting is so dark.
Takeaway:
For the price I expect better. I like my food hot and my steak pink when I ask for medium rare. Service was great and probably it's only saving grace. But I have had better food at the cheaper chain steakhouses.
The finest steakhouse in Boston , still. Not overpriced like so many others. The quality, presentation and service are the gold standard. Lunch today was superb. French Onion soup was better than Escoffier served! Tips perfectly trimmed and seasoned WOW!
It has been a long time since I have been to the stockyard, the food is great they give you so much matter of fact my brother and I got a salad the salad came in a plate and it was full of salad and it was delicious and we also ordered cheeseburgers and fries but there was no way we could eat that after eating all of that salad so we brought that home
Came here before a show at roadrunner. There are mighty few sit down and “relax” dining options in the area. Next time I might have dinner in Waltham and then drive in for the show.
Salt. They need salt. To be fair, at the bar there are salt and pepper shakers conveniently placed - I guess they realize. I use very little salt in my food but this food is pretty tasteless without it. I ordered the crab cakes. Definitely not jumbo lump- I found cartilage- and somewhat greasy. Usually steak places have great crab cakes. It came with coleslaw (tasteless without a bit of an and p) and fries (clearly the frozen type). Of course prices are the typical steakhouse- but I knew that when i came in.
Service at the bar was good even though they were slammed. Plenty of regulars. Probably from wgbh nearby. There was a trio playing uninspiring covers but the restaurant din was such that they couldn’t be heard unless one was sitting close by (I was). Anyway I will try not to come back here If I come to another show. But given the options….
The manhattan was good.
I was so happy to return to the Stockard after so many years. I remember meeting the General Manager Gerry Lynch and he shared his vision of this then vacant building. The Calamari and Tuna Tartare were so yummy, my Prime Rib ( End Cut ) was perfect and do tender. My wife’s Scallop special was perfect as was the kids grilled cheese sandwiches. Our server Deb was so efficient and kind. We will be back!
Stockyard is one of my favorite restaurants for a special occasion. The atmosphere is warm and inviting at any time of year, but especially on weekends and during the holiday season when there is live music in the main room. There are also plenty of private rooms for large and small groups and functions.
The food is classic steakhouse fare done right. The steaks pair well with the many sauces and garnishes offered, and the sides and compliment it all. The non-steak offerings are varied and delicious as well. The beverages are delicious and very reasonably priced. The appetizers are exciting and far from stuffy/bland.
This is not the place if you're looking for a quick meal, but the staff will take care of you and accommodate special requests. You won't leave hungry!
My recommendation: Start with Tuna Tartare and follow with the Tomahawk Bone-In Ribeye (for two) with Mac & Cheese and one of the many green vegetables. Whipped Potatoes and the Loaded Potato Skillet are great side options as well. Pair with Truffle Butter and a Boston Irish Sour (Whiskey Sour with Irish whiskey and an egg white foam; off-menu). Finish with Key Lime Pie, Creme Brulee, or that week's dessert special.
The steaks were cooked perfectly; ordered medium rare.
The sides & drinks were average but didn’t match the quality of the steaks. 5 star meat, 3 star sides.
The baked potato was standard. Spicy broccoli with chilli flakes was not hot.
The rolls are over salted but looked fluffy and steamy so it was odd.
I had a blood orange margarita.
There was live Jazz on a Friday night. Lighting and crowd created a great mood. I also enjoyed the deep rounded booths.
The historical status of the building and solid food and service has obviously worked.
I will be back.
