Lovely charming old-fashioned country pub with really great food. Dog friendly whochnisnt great for me as I am allergic but they were not close.
I did eat here 35+ years ago and it was a fantastic. Pleased to say it has kept its standards up
Only called in after a 4 mile dog walk along the canal and rememberd the Star was there so called in for a quick drink as we haven't been up there since COVID. Lovely old world charm pub tucked away in mamhilad. Not 100% sure but could of recently been taken over as were cards on the table with the proprietors names. Great place to take your dogs as they are welcome anywhere to sit. Was just a really pleasant atmosphere, fire was going, couple of locals in the bar area and staff were super nice and fussing over the dogs with dog treats. They were already setting tables for food for that evening which is a good sign. Will definitely be a go to in the summer on our walks and will be trying for dinner at some point soon.
Fabulous place, great welcome and the food was amazing. We happened to book accommodation next door to the pub (oh, don't tell the missus, I may well have planned it more than she thinks!!) We certainly made use of the 'next door' facilities and we are already planning a return visit. Definitely worth a trip to check it out.
the pub was very full, wasn't able to sit at the table allocated as previous guests stayed longer so given table where many over excited young children were racing about, and in and out of door close by...but the main meal was excellent, but, needless to say, we didn't stay for dessert. As this was a last-minute booking, we just ate, paid the bill and left, although we have eaten there many times before and probably will again in the future.
Went to the star inn today was greeted by a very helpful , friendly barmaid got served beautiful food bearing in mind they stop serving at 14.00 and we ordered at 13.55 . Which I thought was very good service. Used to always love this pub years ago and think it's Gona be back on the favourite place to visit .
Banging food, we dropped in by the off chance we could get served, after a walk along the canal. Lovely staff. Good value for money.
Fantastic selection of real ales, lagers and ciders. Service excellent and a friendly atmosphere. Did not eat but food looked excellent and very reasonably priced.
Great country pub with good food and service... however I'd not appreciate a group of (5) off road bikers walking into the bar/eating area covered in mud!!!!
