Customer service was on point! Very friendly and welcoming. Took time to explain the menu. The Lexington was incredible. Turkey, bacon, cucumber, tomato & avocado honey spread- YUM! The fried pickles were beyond tasty too! Cute and homey place.
I have been attempting to try this place for a few months and finally managed to get downtown to do just that.
At first glance you have to be looking for the restaurant because although I like the front entrance the sign is not very large in size and if you are just driving by you may miss it.
I was greeted as soon as I walked in and asked if I was dining in or looking for takeout and then handed a menu. The woman behind the bar was very personable and was chatting with a few regulars. I ordered the Nashville with french fries at the bar and paid immediately then sat down and waited for the food. Food came nice and fast. As seen in pictures attached it is a large plate of food so certainly a solid portion. I enjoyed the meal. Chicken was cooked well and not over saturated with the Nashville Hot sauce and a good flavor. The Fries had some type of seasoning that was also a good flavor. All in all the food was good and was a good price especially for the portion size. Only feedback I could give would be around the service. The food was dropped off by I am assuming the person that cooked it and possibly the owner. He did check back with me once to ask if all was okay. Beyond that no table service at all. Any refills you need are on your own and I didn't know until after ai went back up to the bar to get a refill and then was told I could refill myself over in corner. Nothing that would prevent me from coming back and I enjoyed the overall feel of the place. A few unique offerings and this is someplace I will try again.
Today was my second visit to Southern Deli but really only my first chance to review it, since the first time was for a networking function, and we were served baskets of various appetizers. And it won’t be my last. My primary motivation for going there today specifically was to sample the chicken sandwich week special: Chicken sausage and hash brown grilled cheese. I like all of those things separately, so what’s not to like about them together? Answer: Absolutely nothing. Every bite was absolutely delicious. It came paired with fries (pretty standard) but they also have chips, potato salad, cucumber and tomato salad, and fresh fruit. On the regular lunch menu there are over a dozen sandwiches, a few salads, and a couple soups to choose from. They recently added a dinner menu consisting of several burgers, wings, and onion rings, but they’ll make any of those items for lunch too, by request. We sat at the bar because it’s so darn cozy and cute, and were served by the manager, Jackson, who could not be a nicer guy. Overall it an inviting and casual atmosphere that anyone working or living downtown should be drawn to, but once the new hotels catch wind of it they’ll be on a wait, so don’t delay - go check them out!
I happened to be in the downtown area around lunch after an appointment & decided to try something different & local. So, I swung by this restaurant that offers a variety of sandwiches. I saw on Google maps so many 5 star reviews and now I know why. Their Reuben sandwich was great and their onion rings where awesome. Portion size for both was just right. They have a nice little patio to Dine on where I took advantage of enjoying the fresh air and not wanting to Dine inside because of the continued Pandemic. I will definitely return and try their other items.
Was looking for a quick lunch while attending a conference at the Marriott City Center and came across the Southern. Place was bust but line moved quickly and the food was worth waiting. I go the Southern (figured, why not?) and it was delicious. Fries were well-seasoned and fresh! Would go back again.
We had never been to the Southern Deli & Tavern so we stooped in for lunch one day. The staff was friendly and our food came out quickly. It wasn't very busy. The club sandwich and burger we ordered was okay. The club was definitely the better of the two but would have liked a little more love cooked into everything - the sandwich had one piece of bacon broken into thirds and placed on different layers, it didn't necessarily look like food/menu images I had seen online and was kind of thrown together extra quickly. A little pricey for lunch - for 2 sandwiches that came with chips (we subsituted fries and a very small side of cucumber salad) with two west sixth draft beers, it was around $40/$45.
Nice deli! The sandwich was delicious and the side potatoes were a bit spicy and seemed to go well with alcohol. There were many types of lemonade, all of which were good.
Never been here, but stopped in for something different. Place was very nice; loved the décor. Not knowing what to do when I walked in it took me a minute to realize I had to walk up to the counter to order and seat myself at any open table. No problem, just through me off. So, just throwing out a choice and not really reading into it I ordered the "southern". It was everything the menu said it was. LOTS of meat, I had to eat it with a plastic fork because it wouldn't fit in my mouth.. Served on paper plates with plastic fork and knife. It was good, not amazing but that is on me. I am not much on pimiento cheese with a hamburger. should have noticed that on the menu. You get a lot of food for what you pay, but be prepared to pay. I had the Southern and a Dt Coke and it was $23.00 with tip. as you can see from the pics.. it was a monster. I will be back to try other things. Staff was cordial and I did not wait maybe 5 min for my food. Again, I will be back to try other things.
