If you expect to sit in a nice pub and enjoy your night think again, the staff are absolutely horrible and rude. Never experienced anything like it in my life. Awful experience. |We drove over 100 miles to attend a family wedding, after a long drive we were pleased to sit down (in what we thought was a nice pub), but after an hour the woman serving us decided to tell us to leave with the most horrible attitude, with no fault of our own. She stated that we hadn’t done anything wrong, she just didn’t want us there. |I found it very rude and i was shocked to say the least. |She had about 3 other customers in the pub it wasn’t busy at all so I didn’t understand why she wasn’t pleased of the custom. |We proceeded to leave and head to a different pub up the road (which i would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat) when we got there we shared our experience with the staff and customers about the saddle inn. They were not shocked at all, some customers in there experienced exactly what we did. |Overall it was a disappointing experience and anyone visiting this area my advice would be not support a business like this, with rude, disrespectful staff and owners who clearly don’t appreciate business or money especially when we are in a cost of living crisis. |Go somewhere else!! Highly highly do not recommend this pub!!
Lovely pub that was clean, quiet & comfy. Secure parking out the back. Licensees were very friendly & accommodating with local knowledge & history. History of the pub uncovered by the licensees & told to us is amazing. Fireplace has been in place since 1660! Bus at front door made commute to York very easy.
On recommendation of this establishment we went after a long drive for a family gathering (wedding) and the service we received was absolutely appalling. They had 2 customers in as well as us and told us they did not feel comfortable serving us with no fault of our own the employee who told us to leave admitted we done nothing wrong. So we had to leave the pub with no fault of our own they were not busy and now I understand the reason why. If your looking for a nice evening DO NOT attend this pub the staff are ignorant arrogant people with clearly no experience or respect for customers. If I could give no stars I would. I am disgusted as well as my family. Residents in a pub near by even told us the pub is known for this. Avoid at all costs.
If you're expecting a warm welcome then think again, the new landlord Is nothing but a control freak! You can't have fun in this pub! He won't let you play pool or sit where you want to sit
! This has been a local for many years but we certainly Won't be spending money here while this landlord is still on his powe trip.
I booked the Saddle Inn a couple of months ago for my daughter’s graduation. |I emailed before we went to check for parking and breakfast, the landlady said there was parking for residents which was great, but unfortunately no breakfast . On arrival the landlady was there to greet us, showed us the parking and was really lovely, said if we needed anything we only had to ask, however when I asked what sort of food would be available in the evenings she said there wasn’t any, no food at all but suggested a pub down the road that she had heard was quite good . I was really surprised and a little shocked to hear this, bearing in mind I picked this place cos the reviews were really good with excellent food reviews. The rooms were cosy and adequate quite reasonably price. If food had been available this review would have been better.|5 stars for the landlady.
We have just returned home from a weekend stay as part of a party attending a wedding. Very friendly and accommodating landlady, excellent service, rooms were well presented. Lovely place to stay and has secure private car park too. We'd definitely stay again
Will never stay here again although the staff were ok the room we had was awful there was a smell we couldn’t open the windows so if there was a fire your stuck, it was too far away to walk to town as it was raining but even if it weren’t it’s too far, they don’t sell the food you see on the pictures it’s fake, the room hadn’t been cleaned properly as we found dirt under the beds and money from previous customers, the whole place is dated and needs bringing into the 21st century, it was ok to lay your head for ONE night definitely no more.
Absolutely awful experience, I was personally attacked by a rottweiler going to the toilet and after returning I was snapped at again. I was then verbally abused by the dog owner who was obviously on drugs and had a control over terrified the owners.
After returning to my seat I was then approached by the male owner who asked me to leave for causing trouble. The land lady was very nice and was obviously intimidated by the local bald headed man high on drugs with the dangerous dog.
Please be aware with children because only for my work trousers I would of needed stiches a child wouldn't be so lucky.
