Paid 40 for a steak that had no seasoning 2-1-14.. guess what ill never do again? Have come here several times in the last decade and have to say they have come a long way.. the food is better and the staff is very friendly and mostly attentive. The new menu's are unnecessarily wooden. The salad wasn't iced cold but was still good. The patty melt ordered medium came out rare but was seasoned and good too. Keep going Roost! Had fish fry 12-2023 and it was really good.. service was lacking from Emily but good thing they run cross coverage..
The food was delicious, the only reason I cant give 5 stars is because my husband and I got the order take out...My husband ordered a Chef Salad, and I ordered Fish Tacos. But, they forgot the eggs and dressing on my husband's chef salad. ???? And if you like chef salads, then you know it's a main protein component, and we had to use some salad dressing he didn't like, here at home. It was kind of a big deal, because we don't get to eat out much. And it is crazy how they would leave off those two things, but overall the food was good quality, fresh, and was cooked correctly. I'm definitely planning on returning, here. If you choose to eat here, I think it worth giving it a try, it was good.
A fantastic spot! It has an appealing dive bar ambiance, and the staff are simply wonderful and very kind. We tried the fish but had to return it as it didn't suit our taste, yet it might appeal to others. However, we will certainly return for more food and beverages.
Excellent Fish and chips...
Fish was like logs and moist...
My favorite YouTuber just visited too...
While I can eat 4 peices I can't imagine how Joel can eat that much...
But I do love how crispy the batter was.
I had to take a picture of the crispness
I went to this place after watching a YouTube video about a guy that filmed his fish 'n' chips challenge that is offered as all you can eat. The crunch of the crispy cod made my mouth water and I could not resist the temptation of filling up with absolute yumminess.
I made it out there with my wife and we were, without a doubt, disappointed from the get-go. Our server didn't arrive to take our drink order until at least 10 minutes after we were seated and she looked hungover and ill. That was the first red flag.
The second red flag was that our iced teas tasted sour and we didn't order them with lemons or limes. We figured that the lemon would come from the leftover wedges from the fish 'n' chips. The sourness was not from any citrus.
The third red flag was that the fish 'n' chips were thrown into the fryer at a very low temperature that made everything soggy, not crispy. The food was severely undercooked and swimming on the plate in the oil that it was cooked in. The breading on the fish had already separated from from the fish. My wife and I decided to pick at the best parts, did not reorder any items, cashed out with minimal tip, and urge those that are researching an all-you-can-eat, fish 'n' chips challenge to steer well clear of this place. I wish that I had 2 extra hands to vote it 4 thumbs down! Avoid at all costs!
Only error was the typical error of similar restaurants up in Phoenix: when you ask for a side which requires a $4 upcharge you get passed over for the nearest equivalent that doesn't make them more money. I assume it's fear based: the fear of confirming with the customer that they're going to have to pay slightly more for a slightly better experience. This is despite the fact that it is clearly labeled on the top of the menu and is mentioned by the server when they first start taking your order. It's kinda annoying, but after so many years at so many different establishments in so many areas and times I've learned to live with it rather than demand they fix the order. I hope someday this younger generation gets a little more courage.
That out of the way, the food was spectacular, service was good at keeping up the water, service was patient when we forgot our coupon, and the atmosphere was fun but chill. We look forward to coming again soon! If you haven't been, you should definitely go check the place out; you won't regret it.
We ordered take out from here for the second time. The first time we ordered from here the food was not good (see my previous review). We thought we would try again, as we were told last time we would be getting a partial in-house credit for the inconvenience. Well, turns out, we never received a partial credit for our first order. Our second order, after I ordered online for take out, said it would be ready for pick up between 4:54pm-5:04pm. My husband arrived there at 4:50pm. He waited 25 minutes before the food was given to him. When he got home our food was ice cold. It was like it had just come out of the refrigerator. The only thing good was the ceasar salad. Fries were absolutely cold and soggy, so they were tossed. My BLT on toast was completely cold and dry as a bone (no mayo on it at all). The two burgers we got were ice cold. My husband couldn't even finish his. I called the restaurant and was told we could either get another order or a "discount" on that order. I was not told how much of a discount I would be given. They said it would be credited to my card. After spending $80 there on food, plus I tipped them (for take out), it better be a good discount since we had to throw 80% of the food away. We ended up giving the cold beef patties from the cold, soggy burgers to our pup. Then, after all of that, the next morning at 5:03am, I received a text message and an email saying our food was ready for pick up. They need to get their act together. I know we won't be back.
We just watched Utuber Joel eat here! We have put this on our bucket list because of the excellent service he got! Also when the cooks said he was shut off from “All you can eat” he asked to speak to the manager and the way the manager handled this situation was TOP NOTCH! He went above and beyond to make things right. We can’t wait to try this fish.
