I was there for two weeks on August several years ago. I love antiques, and staying at this historic site was a big treat for me. I discovered several wonderful t ful antiques which I had mailed to my home, and I enjoyed walking around seeing vintage homes, and in a sense, noting how lovely that time had slowed down in this area, at that time.
The dining room was an old-fashioned treat, and the food was excellent and very fresh.
I also loved having tea on the nice wide porch with the really comfy rocking chair... I LOVE rocking chairs...it was a memorable time.
The pictures here show me that much has changed since I visited. It seems to have expanded and modernized somewhat.
The Norman Rockwell Museum was so close by, it was enlightening to visit.
I hope many of you will decide to visit this place...for me it has b beautiful memories ????
Had a great experience this past weekend. The room was comfy, with plenty of colonial New England charm! The quaint Cohasset downtown was steps outside the front door. Was great the coastline just a short drive away. The service was top notch as well. Would return!
The Red Lion Inn is an iconic, beautiful hotel in the Berkshires in Massachusetts. It is worth seeing, just to see the antiques, and this beautiful old gem of a building. It is not, however, worth going to the restaurant. The food was mediocre at best, very expensive and ice cold. The service wasn't great because they are very short staffed. The bar at the hotel is charming and quaint with great drinks so I would go to the bar for a cocktail and then go someplace else for dinner.
During a trip to the Berkshires, stopped into The Red Lion for lunch. This place oozes history and is such a cool spot to have lunch. The dining area was big and, at least when we were there, not many people were having lunch, so we got a table immediately. On another note, the lunch prices are quite reasonable. |Will definitely come here again the next time we visit the Berkshires.
We love going here for a drink that we order at the bar and then sit on the couches to enjoy by the fireplace. It is such a romantic and charming spot. I highly recommend their irish coffees that they make with real whip cream on top! The little booths are secluded too if you want to enjoy an intimate dinner.
The place prides itself on its history - and if what you want is to sit on the veranda and read, I suppose that's fine. If you are staying the night - it's not so fine.| The latch on the door did not work so we had to use the deadbolt all the time. The door let in too much light - could not make the room dark. The shower ran for several minutes without getting hot. We could climb into the high tub but not every older person could. There was only one open electric outlet - people bring in lots of electronics nowadays. One of the two "comfortable" chairs had no support - one fell into it. No recycling that we could see. Signage, internal and external was insufficient.
The staff at the front desk, the pub, the restaurant, gift shop are all very pleasant and helpful whatever the question or issue. While I haven’t stayed in the rooms, it always appears to have plenty of guests making their plans for daily activities in the area. Location in the Berkshires is superb.
Three groups of our family met up and stayed at the Inn and two of the guest houses on the property. The property is well maintained. The front desk staff were accommodating and extremely professional. Housekeepers were extremely helpful. The atmosphere was magical during all of our stay. Be sure to stop by the small gift shop at the entrance to the hotel, and especially "The Shop Around the Corner," a floral/gift boutique tucked away along one of the hallways on the ground floor. Our stay was spectacular, and we hope to repeat it next year.
