Amazing pub, responded to my emails very quickly, very helpful and sent off for menus.
When we got to the pub it was busy, good sign to me, we was greeted and shown to our table. Drink orders was taken then shortly after our food orders. About 35 or so minutes later our food started turning up, looked fresh and very appetizing. I had the chicken and leek pie from the special board and asked for chips with mine. The pie was amazing, can't fault it. I had a bite of my partners burger and that was amazing too. Partners parents was with us and they had the cod and chips, lovely big fish and they fully approved it.
With our 3 children as well the pub was very accommodating as we have a very fussy child and they was fine with us bringing his own food for him.
All in all 10 out of 10. Will be back 100% I fail to see any reason not to enjoy this pub.
Stopped off for lunch during a road trip. Warm welcome, friendly staff. Great choice of beers. Offered main menu, lunch menu, and specials. My 'black & blue' burger (Angus and Stilton) was very tasty indeed. And very filling. Companion's cheese sandwich also very good, nice and simple proper food. Would stop here again. Lovely.
Food absolutely great! Staff very welcoming and friendly, finding a place like this to eat has helped make our holiday memorable ☺️
Will definitely return when next in the area
Wanted to write this review ages ago but something went wrong with my account.
We stopped here for dinner on our way down to Cornwall. Really friendly, attentive staff and very delicious food.
Staff took our son’s dairy allergy seriously and were able to make sure we chose a safe meal for him. This may sound like a given, but we have visited multiple places where this has not been the case, so for us, good allergy awareness is a key factor.
I would also like to mention a kitchen staff member who noticed that we were using a napkin for my son to eat from (only because his main plate was too hot, so we were transferring smaller portions to the napkin for him) and brought us a paper plate for him instead, which was lovely customer service and the staff are clearly paying attention to us.
Highly recommended
Well what a little gem of a pub this was. We popped in for a meal, we had a lovely welcome and taken to a table, would recommend book a table first gets very busy in the restaurant. They had a great menu and a specials board. Great selection of beer's and cider. We were shocked on how reasonable the bill was. All we can say is try it out and support the pub.
Lovely, fresh food. And nice personal.
What a lovely little gem !!! Dave and his staff are so warm and friendly. The pub has a very welcoming and comfortable feeling.. We noticed the menu board and the food look really good and prices we very reasonable.Later in the week we went back for lunch .The chef was amazing ,food was presented and cooked as good as any high end restaurant.I can highly recommend a visit. When we relocate to this area The Red Lion will be our first port of call.Thank you Dave and Staff for making us feel so welcome..
A pleasant surprise. We met family for a pre christmas meal because it is halfway between us and had the christmas menu. A few looks from the locals as we walked in, but the actual staff were all attentive and friendly. They put us in the back room as they were expecting big groups of local all day drinkers, which we appreciated. Food was fine- pub grub. Good sized portions
