Proper pub.
There aren't many left like this, it's a gem.
No kids
No hot food
No TVs
No fruit machines
No piped music.
Beery bliss. Always great atmosphere.
Just excellent well kept ales, with a good selection of wines, ciders & spirits. Various pastries, cheeses & savouries are available.
Lovely pub! Welcoming, cosy, great selection of ales - and cheap!!
A welcoming place with a great and varying selection of well-kept beers at acceptable prices. The only thing that could be improved is some of the seating. No jukebox or gaming machines and no noisy phones allowed. A really good pub!
Always welcoming, homely and a proper rural village pub. Service is great and love the quirkiness. Great place for a proper natter rather than loud jukebox noise. It still keeps its traditional opening hours so check before you visit.
This is such a wonderful friendly and welcoming pub, its the focal point of such a lovely community. The ale is well looked after and if you are fortunate enough to taste the scotch eggs on a sunday afternoon you are in for an absolute treat....dog friendly, log fire, no music, no live sports, no fruit machines and no kids....absolutely perfect (and we have kids) ????????
This is my favourite pub in the world. If you love real ale then pay this place a visit; usually around 6 to choose from. I've moved 50 miles away and still go as often as I can. ????
Rude landlord alert. A small group of us met in this pub last night with one friend bringing her two young sons who each had a glass of lemonade and behaved immaculately. Twenty minutes into our evening, Dave the landlord breezed over and in front of the whole pub announced that children are not allowed in the bar. His tone and manner were completely unacceptable and inappropriate and worse still, he had already taken money off my friend for the drinks. While I appreciate it is the business owner's decision not to allow children in the pub, surely it would be better to advise of this rule at the point of entry rather than having taken money off the customer first. Secondly, there are ways and means of doing things. Being pleasant is not difficult to most people in the service industry but clearly well beyond this landlord's limited skill-set. I accept that he can keep beer well but I will be staying away from this place in the future as he made our group feel quite uncomfortable and a good friend unnecessarily angry and upset. Avoid.
Lovely atmosphere and well frequented for a Thursday evening.
