Stopped here on our way back from holiday and we were so pleased to have stumbled upon this lovely pub. Great food, very welcoming landlady and a really cosy atmosphere. Just right :)
I can’t really rate this pub on anything apart from its ‘no dogs policy’. I would have thought a pub in the middle of such beautiful countryside would not have been so short sighted as to not allow dogs. We tried to book a table as we’d heard the food was excellent and we were staying locally, I have an Assistance Dog who goes everywhere with me for medical reasons and we were told we could not bring him to the pub. This is the first time we have ever been refused entry to ANY establishment, not just a pub. To be honest this felt very discriminatory.
Fantastic dining experience with 2 kids and the wife. A good sized menu for a small pub this size. Very warm, welcoming and friendly staff. locals appear friendly. Food was very well cooked and reasonably priced. Would Def go back again if we were in the area. Highly recommend the barnsley chop ????
3 courses for £20
Excellent food and service brilliant by all staff. Thankyou
What an absolutely outstanding pub! The landlady and all of the staff are some of the most polite and helpful people I have ever met.
The Fish & Chips are up there with the best that I have ever had, and my other half raved about the Carbonara. The Brownie was also to die for.
The Ludlow Brewery Gold is phenomenal too!
Don't let the 'no dogs' policy cloud your judgement, it's lovely to see a place putting people first.
We will definitely back.
Lovely little local pub. Stayed at beacon view pods and had a lovely walk over the tops to get to this quant country pub. Top food and Def worth the visit. Plus the landlord also offered a lift home.... Not sure if that's because we'd had a few..... Or more so as he knew the elevation of the walk back ???? top pub, top grub.
This is a great pub!
We stopped locally and walked 4 miles through the wonderful countryside for lunch and a pint (well a few) at this establishment. We did book in advance but there were tables available but I’m sure in the height of Summer it’ll be very busy. The menu ranges from the usual main meals, sandwiches, light bites and you can order off the specials board.
The welcome in to the pub was second to none and the service was perfect.
A nice little beer garden to the side and enough to watch the world go by in peace a quite. We picked the weather well so the borders were in full bloom.
So would I return….. Yes! Would I walk another 4 miles……. Yes! If fact I’d walk more.
Drop in for a great welcome, food at a reasonable price and a local ale, or a Gin, or a cider if you like but go, it’s a cracker of a pub!
????????
Can't really rate the food but the man on the phone was appalling only asked if it was dog friendly and can we sit outside and the answer was well it is pissing down.
