We were staying down the road and this pub was recommended for food and for being dog friendly.
Really nice welcome when we arrived, dog friendly, great array of real ale and cider, piping hot, tasty pie and mash and pie and chips for dinner, THE BEST CRISPIEST FLUFFIEST CHIPS I’ve ever eaten.
A game of pool too.

One main dish was lukewarm, otherwise the food was good. Our bottle of white wine was not chilled properly. Other than an ordered drink not arriving the service was good. Slightly disappointing experience.
We arrived just after they'd finished serving food, so we had a quick drink before moving on. Barman was very polite, and our drinks were good. The pub seemed very busy.
Having lived in the area previously the ploughboy was close enough to be my "local" it's a generally nice place with a friendly atmosphere. This visit was for refreshments following a friend's funeral and the venue didn't disappoint the place being comfortable and inviting, the food was good and plentiful.
Nice Sunday carvery. Easy to park. Two plate size/price options. Good selection of meats and various veg. Good atmosphere. Enjoyed our meal and drinks, but loos need attention.
Joined friends for carvery Christmas lunch. Food excellent with good choice, turkey, beef and gammon. Also varied choice of vegetables. Small or large plates available. Plenty of car park space.
The new management has certainly turned a new page in making this pub/restaurant very welcoming with the new staff and quality food. The food is served fresh within a reasonable time. The price of food ranges from about £5.95 for sandwiches and up to £19.95 for a mega mixed grill. They also have up to 4 different wines, too. The pub and restaurant is clean and tidy, good seating and outdoor parking.
Love popping in on a Sunday for a few beers post long run, haven't quote made it for a roast yet, but it always smells nice.
