The Plough Inn is a nice traditional village pub. There is a nice bar and several other rooms. There is a good selection of beers lager and cider including cask conditioned real ale. The pub is popular for its home cooked food. The staff are friendly and welcoming, there are no bar games. There is plenty of parking and outside seating.
Popped in on Sunday 3.30pm.
Had the most amazing Vegetarian Sunday lunch with butternut squash pie, loads of vegetables, roasts, Yorkshire, stuffing balls.
Followed by a delicious home made biscoffe cheesecake..scrumptious!
Service quick. Quiet when we arrived ...just as we like it.. but they had had a busy lunch.
Landlady very friendly. Chef fabulous!
Highly recommended!
Had a very nice quiet afternoon lunch with Mrs and the dogy. Food was excellent, had fish and chips, loved the fish, beautifully crispy batter, golden huge chips and lovely mushy peas. Try biscoff cheese cake, it is lovely.
Atmosphere was calming and relaxing, people were super friendly and happy.
Lovely experience. If you're about, and love English classic style pubs, I would recommend.
Visited today hoping for Sunday lunch. Sadly disappointed. Pub had very few people eating. No atmosphere and very unwelcoming. Dirty carpets.
Very small menu of meat roast dinner and cauliflower steaks for veggie and gluten free option.
Scampi. Sea Bass.
I asked for veggie roast. Sold out and offered a curry.
Long wait for food. When it arrived, my sea bass was slammed down on the table in front of me
Chicken was cold and in parts frozen.
We overheard a conversation of the toilets being blocked and the food delivery not arriving
We could not eat our food and had to leave without charge. Managers very unprofessional.
We feel they were new managers and struggling but the customers still deserve good service.
Very disappointed.
Just visiting for a quiet weekend away and had a warm welcome to the pub on entry. Asked if we could have some dinner and they supplied us with menus and we were eating within 30 minutes. Perfectly presented and absolutely lovely food, very impressed! Homely feel all round. Definitely recommend!
Very disappointed after reading the 4 & 5 Star reviews.
There was a choice of 3 starters on the menu but only 1 available and this was a Sunday dinner time at 1pm.
So decided to play it save and have scampi & chips and then was asked by the waitress if I could like garden peas or mushy peas , so decided on mushy peas . Two minutes later she returned to say mushy pears weren't available with the scampi, so decided on the garden peas as a substitute. When food arrived I was disappointed with the quantity of the scampi and the chips but was happy with the portion size of the peas. The only positive thing was the food was hot.
But won't be returning in the near future unless things drastically change for the better.
Really nice food, the ribs were to die for ! Very friendly pub, and they allow dogs. Our Archie had a sausage too. Definitely will come here again
Great little village pub with bags of atmosphere and a strong link to the bomber squadrons that flew from Pocklington airfield during WWII. There are loads of photos, squadron badges etc, on display.
We had a drink, went for a lovely 4 mile walk through the woods on Allerthorpe Common, then returned for a meal and more drinks.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Although there was a fairly limited choice of beers, what they had were very well kept, Timothy Taylors being the best.
The food was excellent, a very good menu with plenty of choice, even for the vegan in our party and the prices were very reasonable.
Highly recommended
