Saddened to see that this great wee village pub has been turned into a Chinese takeaway although it wouldn't take much to transform it back again....the Chinese food was really good, by the way!
I'm adding this latterly in response to the new owner of The Pirn Inn as they've quite rightly corrected my post. The reply to my original review is a very welcome one, and I'm sure that the village of Balfron will also be heartened by the news that a very popular eating and drinking venue will soon be opening up their doors again for the public to enjoy their produce and hospitality.... brilliant news!!!
BTW, the Chinese is still a must try LOL ????
Excellent local pub. Great atmosphere. Good range of beers and ales, pumped and bottled. Awesome range of gins. Live music at weekends. Good dartboard and pool table. Next door is a chinese takeaway.
Regrettably I ordered a vegetarian meal for my Vegan son Including VEGETABLE SPRING ROLLS. I gave them to him and he ate half of one before being violently ill. They contained meat! On calling them I was told that she had repeated the order back to me as Spring Rolls and I didn't disagree! Not impressed. She said I could have a refund of the £2.40 but that was all she could offer! BLACK MARKS! WE HAVE EATEN THEIR FOOD MANY TIMES OVER THE YEARS! JUST LOST A CUSTOMER!
Friendly, quirky pub. Friendly accomodating staff. "No, we are closed....but have a drink anyway" ! And so the lady cleaning the pub made me a coffee. Will be heading back to have a beer.
Just looking for facilities on A811; then we stopped in Balfron, then we found this inn, we hanged out with local people, super welcoming&friendly pub, great pints, lovely…

When reading out the delivery the person on line waited till I was fully finished reading before telling me to speak up which I did I then repeated my order to her and she judged it saying it didn’t sound very tasty she then became increasingly loud and literally shouted for the rest of the call at one point even “stating are you joking”. Cheek all the way through the call before saying I’m not taking this order and hanging up
Fantastic, friendly staff was made to feel very welcome. Will definitely be back.
