Excellent BBQ! They do a fantastic job of pulling the fat out of the pork, so it’s all high quality meat. I had the loaded stuffed potato and it was delicious. Fried zucchini was a perfect appetizer. Very generous portions, great sides. Service was phenomenal thanks to Crystal! Thank you Pig Pitt, we will be back
Showed up on a random Monday at around 1PM, and most of the other restaurants in the area were closed that day. The two employees working the front were commenting about how I was the first customer of the day, which was apparently unusual. I'm not very picky with food and don't normally leave reviews, but I think this owner would do well to go order a brisket plate from their competition and see what they get. The brisket I got didn't look like any I've ever had before, it had very little seasoning and zero bark, as if it hadn't even been smoked. Their collards were strangely sweet and vinegary at the same time. The fries were just not much to write home about. This place has a cool location next to the river, but the food needs some serious work.
The food is damn good if you like BBQ! I got the pork sandwich and my daughter got the brisket sandwich. Brisket just fell apart and was super easy to eat. The pork was amazing and absolutely perfect! Mac and cheese is definitely worth a try. The peach cobbler was the best part!!
The Pig Pitt
Located in downtown Fredericksburg on Sophia Street, just a couple of blocks off the Rappahannock River, and fortunately just a few minutes from where I live. This is a Bar B Que place, pure and simple. The Pig Pitt is decent Bar B Que. It's not the best I've ever had, but easily good enough to visit again. The woman that served us was wonderful , the kind of person that you feel instant friends with. Another great thing about the Pig Pitt is that even though it's in downtown Fredericksburg, it has its own parking.
If you enjoy Bar B Que, give them a try.
First time here. Honey BBQ sauce was our favorite. We got the loaded potatoes. One Pork one Brisket. Couldn't pick which was better both were awesome. Will definitely be back. They don't short you on the Potatoes they fill the plate up
Y’all. Go go go go go to this place! It’s freaking delicious and amazing! Hush puppies and cornbread: delicious. Collard greens and Mac n cheese: delicious. Ribs: juicy and falls off the bone. Brisket: fantastic flavor, beautiful smoke ring, fat immediately melts in your mouth. I wish we could try every thing today, but we are definitely coming back so just gotta try some new then! ☺️
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, but the food we got was somewhat disappointing. I got a chicken platter and my husband got the pork platter. The meats were bland so I had to smother mine in BBQ sauce. I enjoyed the collards and baked beans, slaw was ok, but fries were also bland.
Very delicious. The cashier was very helpful and asked questions to make sure we got what we wanted. There are great options and flexibility to the sampler platter. Which I found was great value. 15 bucks and you get half rack, 1/4th lb chicken and pulled pork with bread with two sides (Mac and cheese was great). They also have a stuffed potato the size of dinner plate filled to the brim with all the fixings plus meat for only 10. It could be a lunch for two right there. The seating was also comfortable and cozy for a small location. I hope they have success and manage to stick around.
