Room was clean and comfortable. Did not have breakfast available during the week and did not try breakfast baskets that were the weekday option. We did have dinner and our burgers were very good. The staff were friendly and we were happy with this hotel.
Never been here before, and I would definitely drink there again, but I will definitely not eat there again. ||The place itself is beautiful and has a nice atmosphere. But I think the drinks are a little overpriced. Staff were very friendly and kept the table clear and made sure to ask if we needed more drinks. ||So, why wouldn't I eat there again. I ordered steak pie and chips and was disappointed to say the least, both with portion size and price. ||My pie was a warmed up Pukka pie served with 8 undercooked chips, and peas that were served in a pot and luke warm at best. So I was a bit gutted to have to pay £15 for this meal. ||It's fair to say that were still hungry after our meal. (My partner had the same, only she had 7 chips).||In all, lovely place, poor overpriced food.
Let’s start with the positive: cooked breakfast is good - but has to be ordered 24 hours in advance (you get a right bollocking if you don’t pay immediately the moment you order)||The rooms are tiny, claustrophobic warm and a death trap as windows can’t be opened in case of fire.||The special offers in restaurant has to be ordered 48 hours in advance ( really how hard can it be to pickup supplies in the coop? And to open a bottle of bubbles?)||Gin and wine offer is severely limited.|Food in restaurant is warmups that spend too much time under the grill: black bangers|Other times your food is cold||Really this place should be shut down
As regular Saturday punters we decided as a group to book a table (10 people) for the Christmas Fayre menu. The 3 course meal was excellent in portions, taste and value. My only niggle is the expensive cost of drinks. Staff were friendly and efficient, as always.
We live local, so we didn't stay overnight. If we lived out of the area, we would definitely consider staying here.
The food was good and the staff were excellent.
We were a couple from Australia travelling through and wanted to find a spot to watch the State of Origin. A site we found suggested this place and lucky for us we were passing right through! We called ahead to double check and the staff put the game on in a secluded area with the volume up, they even opened their kitchen early for us (we got the pie which was yummy). They also had a lovely beer garden. Would recommend for the service alone :)
Wanted to try here for ages and so disappointed, came for Sunday lunch and it was barely edible. The beef was the only half decent thing on the plate. lumpy mash, watery gravy, undercooked vegetables, reheated roast potatoes ,Yorkshire puddings were burnt on the top and not cooked in the middle. For nearly £16 it was disgraceful. Serving staff were lovely, escalated to manager when I expressed disappointed who came to see us ‘ for further clarification ‘ stated the pub had been packed with zero complaints ( the place was empty ! ) and that he would come back. |He didn’t he sent his staff back to deal with the issue, was still expected to pay the ridiculous price for the food. Will definitely not be returning
Called in for a few drinks with friends. Excellent atmosphere and service will go back for sure
