Came here for lunch. Was an early bird today being the first one to walk through the doors for the day. Had the pig candy appetizer with the whiskey honey glaze on the side. The fried pork belly was great I didn't care for the glaze. The entree I had was the bison burger. It was really good. My main complaint is the blue cheese over powered the taste of everything else. Once I removed most of the cheese I could taste the meat and veggies. And they were great. Served a large amount of fries for my side and they were tasty and crunchy.
The food was wonderful, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was delightful. Me and a couple friends came here for Halloween and our server was a funny kitty cat man and I would die for him, probably.
All the vegetables during the growing season and grown in a garden owned by the tavern and because of the seasonality of vegetables their menu often rotates which is very refreshing and you can tastes a difference as opposed to other resturants.
The staff were all delightful and very friendly and not afraid to make some jokes.
The drinks were very tasty if a bit pricey.
Overall great place to eat and always great to support a local buisness, just be warned that it is a bit pricey but I feel it is well worth the money!
One of our favorite places!
Phil-up was on tap, so we braved the frigid weather and the round-a-bout and got warmed up fast! Shannon took great care of us, and everything was perfect as usual!
first impression was amazing. food was genuinely just delicious and appetizing. had the pig candy, meat and cheese board for appetizers and the schnitzel sandwhich and philly cheese and everything came out awesome. service was great i think our servers name was Kylie she was very attentive and nice :)
The Olympic Tavern is an awesome place to catch a game on a Saturday afternoon and grab some solid food! The atmosphere here makes you want to hang out and get to know the locals. Blackened Scallops for the win if you make the stop in here!
We went today to go to Pickle Fest 2024. Unfortunately, it was raining. ( I know that can't control the weather)
They had tons of printed menus for everything except the pickle fest items. ????
The fried pickles were delicious. Our appetizers were the only thing that came out hot.
We waited a long time for the food and it was cold when we got it. Room temperature. Our poor waitress was being run ragged.
I paid over $50 for a cold lunch for 2 people. Won't go here again.
I have been in Rockford for 18+ years and from my first experience at The Olympic to the one tonight. The food was fresh and hot, wait staff attentive to our needs. This truly is a gem of a restaurant on the Northwest side of Rockford.
Thursday nights are board game nights and oysters are discounted too. Excellent!
We stopped in on a whim this Saturday for lunch and some drinks. My wife and I ordered spinach and artichoke dip to share and then "The Pipefitter" burger with sweet potato fries for myself and Mac and cheese with Buffalo chicken for our her meal. The artichoke dip was good but not great. The cheese on top had been over cooked and mostly blacked when brought to us. We basically set the cheese to the side and ate the rest. My burger was OK to put in mildly. The smash patties were both on the dry side and the deep fried onions on top were so hard I had difficulty compressing the burger down enough in order to actually eat it. The sparsely used 1000 island dressing on the sandwich wasn't even a factor due to its small amount on the bun. My wife's food was absolutely delicious. The Mac and cheese were done perfectly and the Buffalo chicken was cooked just right. We both washed our meals down with captain and diet cokes that were unfortunately made with more coke than rum and didn't taste right. The only saving grave was the drinks were served in tiny glasses so we didn't have to endure it for long. Long story short, we didn't have a meal worthy of the price and can find other establishments that we'll be happier at. The location is beautiful and cleanly and the staff was both courteous and kind. It just seemed like they were badly short-handed because the tables around us were all waiting for one thing or another and the empty tables took forever to be cleared and wiped down.
