The Olive Well is a good family own business. On arrival, I was met with a very polite welcome, and nothing was 2 much trouble.
The room was great, with plenty of coffee and tea,i could have breakfast on site,so they prepared 2 breakfast rolls, and they were huge and well worth it.
Would definitely stay again.
4 of us tried the Olive Well on a Thursday night. We had a very early booking at 5.30 so it was pretty quiet but quickly filled up towards 7/7.30. My young daughter (4 years old) absolutely loved it in that she got to build her own pizza. They asked her what were her favourite toppings and brought them to the table with a ready rolled pizza base. 15/20 mins later the pizza arrived and she cleared the plate which is unusual for her. I had a lovely 12" pizza which was lovely with a thin base with all my favourite toppings as requested, however it was struggle to finish so maybe 9" would have been a better option. My mum had fish and chips, and my wife the sirloin steak. The food is great for a family night out, well priced drinks and a good atmosphere. Just what Cullompton needs. The only negative is the service was a little slow so maybe they more staff on the busier nights. The portions maybe a little too large but then maybe not for others. Will go back when next visiting cullompton.
We held a work party here and the food was absolutely delicious, the staff incredibly helpful, polite and attentive. The owner came out to greet us and talk to us about food choices and any allergens, etc. Would definitely recommend.
Disappointed is understatement. The food took over hour to come thinking ok its being cooked fresh worth the wait
Wrong the calamari was greasy and overcooked verging burnt mozzarella and bacon chips massive portion but again overcooked and everything had old cooking oil taste. The pizza was blande my gammon was dry the pineapple tasted of dirty oil .After sending back the chios and calamari just gave up paid for food and left .the restaurant was smoky and smelt of dirty oil both our eyes were a bit stinging .
Definitely would not return or recommend
What a wonderful place to stay! Really lucky that as a very late booker, I was rewarded with the honeymoon suite and got to enjoy a large room with a bath at the foot of the bed and a very artistic en-suite shower room. The super-comfy bed gave me the first 8-hour sleep I have had in weeks, and I was thoroughly content with my choice of hotel (and at a really good rate too!) Dinner was great with portions so large that a doggy-bag was needed; it also gives you a measure of the place and the standard of service when the friendly waitress serving you is a trainee lawyer. But the best feature was Rob the owner, a genial and enthusiastic guy rightly proud of the work he has put into making such a lovely place to stop for dinner or the night. Top tip for the breakfast - give the fantastic cooked tomatoes a try: without giving away the secret, you won't regret it!
I left booking a place to stay till the very last moment but I found this fantastic place to stay. Firstly, Rob the owner is such a genuine lovely bloke and could not be more welcoming and helpful.
Secondly, my room was absolutely fantastic and I had a wonderful sleep.
My reason for staying was work related but this is the first time I will plan my next visit and take my wife.
Breakfast was lovely and fresh, you can tell when someone takes pride and everyone I met in The Olivewell obviously do and obviously enjoy working there.
Definitely will be booking to stay again weither it's for work or pleasure.
On first impressions this place looked good. Staff accommodated our booking for 9 adults and 1 child. We arrived on time and we were seated quickly. Staff were very polite and friendly and drinks and our starter arrived quickly. Unfortunately things declined dramatically after that when we ended up waiting 2 hours to receive our main courses. Three members of our group didn't order a starter so they hadn't eaten a thing since we arrived. When we were finally promised we'd get our food in 10 minutes and 15 minutes went by, we had to get the manager involved. To their credit, they were apologetic and compensated us with a complimentary drink each and a slight reduction on the bill. By time we actually got the food, the portions were quite sizeable but my lasagne was tasteless and I'd lost my appetite and didn't eat it all. The rest of the group also said their food was bland and tasteless. This was the last evening of our week long holiday, it was a shame for our last meal to be like this, but at least we never have to return.
The restaurant was clean and looked very inviting. We booked a table for 7.15pm. The staff were friendly and happy to help. However not sure what happened with the delay of our food coming out. I know they had another big party booked in. However things could have been organised a bit better. Not everyone in our party had ordered a starter so they had to wait until 9.15pm before they got to eat! Which kind of put a dampener on the last day of our holiday! After such a long wait we all felt that the food flavours could have been a little better.
