This is the BEST bakery!! We had the chocolate and almond croissant and the cinnamon bun. Both so good. The coffee is fantastic too. The staff so friendly, cheerful and helpful. Great cycling stop!
I went to this bakery today there was a lovely looking apricot tart slice in the cabinet £3.50. which I thought was reasonable my friend also ordered the same. when it arrived they had cut the slice in two and charged us both £3.50 it really was a stingy little piece. nice but come on over £7.00 for a take away coffee and a stingy little piece of cake. Sorry we will not be returning here.
The rumours are true. Smashing cakes and what a range. Sausage rolls were big and quality, lovely coffee and staff as well. Just remembered to take your card as they don't do cash.
Down on the Somerset Levels for five days, seeing friends locally and staying in Mark. The Old Spot Bakery isn't open Monday or Tuesday, so we got there on Wednesday morning.
With Covid-19 restrictions, they've sensibly decided to serve from the shop door. The bread and cakes are easy to see through the large picture window at the front of the shop. We chose a white sourdough loaf, a vanilla 'slice' and two of the Far Bretons, which are a French prune tart (?) in a custard....the prunes are soaked in Armagnac. Out of this world, believe me!!
Service was by a really nice, friendly woman and we decided to buy two takeout coffees too and sit on a bench nearby.
We tried the sourdough loaf, later that same day and I have to say, it is probably the best I've ever had. We're still eating it on Friday and it's still great!!
Chatting to another woman customer, we all commented on the importance of good local bakers. The Old Spot Bakery in Mark is well worth a visit. Check opening times and get there promptly for goodies. You've been warned! Brilliant!!! Five Stars!! On the Favourite list!!!
It was ok but 7.65 for an almond croissant and a take away coffee is ridiculous overpriced. Congratulations if they can continue the business but i felt very short changed for the price and wont return again...........
Response to the owner. I had a white coffee in a paper cup and an almond croissant in a cardboard tray out side so it was take away i presume. What was disappointing was my group was asked to all order and then pay after. If i would of known the price i would of cancelled and gone to one of the many other places in the area. Dont get me wrong i would and have paid more but today i felt really short changed so much so i wrote this review some thing i never do.
Next level focaccia here! And massive thanks to the baker who gave us some tips on making our own. I'll try but it won't be as good as yours ;) Everything I've tried from here has been delicious. Great to have a proper bakery doing bread justice!
Lovely pastries! My partner loved the sausage rolls but i found them too heavy and greasy. The pastry was salty and delicious though. We will be going again though!
Stopped for a coffee and cake on a cycle ride. Good coffee, fantastic pain au raisin and sausage rolls (not all eaten by me!). All the other bakery items being made on site looked amazing too. Highly recommended
