Looks lovely and picturesque. We drove over the old packhorse bridge to reach the castle carpark, then admired it from the benches near to the bridge.
The picturesque, stone packhorse bridge, built in 1450, crosses the River Clun. It is wide enough for a single car, but there are sections wide enough for a pedestrian or two over each pier.
Lovely place to sit and watch the world go by. Had a pot of ice cream from the shop nearby, sat on a bench and listened to the ripples of the river and twittering of birds. Very relaxing. The bridge is narrow and can be quite busy with traffic. I'm not sure how long it's been there but I can imagine it's been quite a while.
Lovely place to sit & watch the world go by. The river is shallow enough for children to have a paddle in while the grownups sit & watch. There are a couple of picnic benches near by as well as a few benches to sit on. There is a nice cafe just over the road to get a drink & something to eat.
Lovely bridge that sits within Clun. It, alongside the castle, are key historical features of the area.
The bridge is narrow and has passing places for pedestrians on either side. There can be several cars passing across as it is an A Road, however it isn't the first choice for drivers travelling long distance.
The most popular aspect of the bridge is the shallow river bed that flows underneath as it's popular with locals and walkers who can paddle feet in the water or build dams!
The old 15th century pack horse bridge still well used today, even by far too big vehicles travelling over it. The river Clun runs underneath it,with car park and toilets nearby. As well as two lovely cafe's and two pubs up the hill.
A narrow bridge with a few passing spaces for pedestrians. The bridge is often damaged by large vehicles which requires repairs. A local has recently decorated it by placing some china ducks in the passing places much to my sons delight.
The old bridge Clun Mid Wales
Pleasant little stop for travellers, benches and homemade ice cream by the river.
