Best KPortal Reviews

My friend and I went to this place for brunch. Such a great quality and fresh food. I really loved the stuffed croissants. It was well garnished also so tasty and fresh. I enjoyed the coffee as well, they do caramel latte which was nice. Also the pistachio milk cake was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. Friendly staff.
We came here after seeing the Instagram profile and we were not disappointed. The food was presented beautifully and the croissant was delicious, and also reasonably priced, with good service.
A few improvements could be made regarding cleanliness of the cafe - the floor was filthy and desperately needed sweeping and mopping. The fabric chairs were also really dirty and stained. They looked pretty but aren’t a practical choice for a dine in cafe. The toilet was also out of order.
We ordered ice coffees and would have preferred to have them in glasses rather than plastic disposable cups.
However would still recommend and return! :)
I've been a couple of times now and I've been pleased both times.
The first time I got taco pancakes which were amazing, they got a but sickly by the last one but they were very nice (shown in photo). I also got the pistachio iced latte, it was nice but it didn't taste any different from a regular latte. It's quite sweet but that's how I like it.
The second time I went I got the blueberry compote and lemon pancakes which were very nice, I thought it was get sickly but it never was and the pancakes were nice and fluffy. (you can see them in the background of the photo)
the decorations looks really nice however the seats and tables were slightly stained or could do with refreshing which took away from the appeal a bit but it's barely noticeable and not a problem for me.
It does get pretty busy on weekends, we had to wait about 15-20 minutes one time as we went about 3ish for a table. But when I've gone in the week at lunch time 11-12ish, it's been very quiet.
My partner and I felt slightly let down by the Milkcake man, after seeing all the amazing pictures on Instagram we didn't expect to find a dirty restaurant with limited staff.
The food was average with the exception of the croissants from Levain and Cherry next door which were as good as always.
The signature milk cake was nice but far too sweet and had the consistency of soft weetabix.
milk cakes were always great but ever since they’ve ventured into the brunch game I’ve been really enjoying their offerings. Masala beans and truffled mushroom especially. There’s a fella in the reviews who said the mushrooms have a horrible smell… which is literally the truffle smell lol. Hard to explain to an idiot what truffle is but yes it has a pungent smell that’s literally truffle.
Love my food everytime I come I can’t complain
Thought we would try The Milkcake Man as we have seen this all over IG. It looked absolutely amazing and something you just wanted to go and enjoy.
The pistachio Spanish was nice.
The softserve was very icy and liquidy. It was a shame as it looked very pretty and that could have been because the machines temperature could have been wrong.
The Milkcake wasn't't anything that blew me away but the presentation was simple and nice.
Everything does look amazing and maybe we would try it again in the future but get the French toast this time.
Food and drinks were amazing but the fabric seats were very dirty, crumbs and hair all over them! The toilet was out of order and door was broken. I think the place just needs a lick of paint and seats hoovered maybe at the end of each day.
We found this little treasure after a long walk around Kings Heath High Street. We ordered an oreo milkcake, tacos and a blossom tree. The tacos were honestly AMAZING and the fruit used was fresh and tasted so great. My family loved the milkcake which was a little too sweet for me and they absolutely loved the blossom tree too. Definitely coming back we LOVED it here. I would put a sign near the front of the alley way though as we walked past twice missing the shop using Google maps ❤️
