Car park is an absolute joke. Took 40 minutes to sign up and pay for parking. A gathering of 14 of us all had roast dinners. Only good thing on the plate was the beef. Was just literally a pile of cabbage chopped too finely. Like a leprechaun had swapped his pile of gold for sweetcorn and the rainbow finished on my plate. Covered in yellow nuggets that looked dried fruit. Waited 10 minutes for gravy to come out which wasn’t bad. But had to pay a fortune for a glass of flat coke to wash down the absolutely shocking dinner. 2 new skin on potatoes. 2 what looked like rabbit Tod size pieces of stuffing. Highly recommend to avoid at all cost. Park on main road an have some good fish n chips. If you want a Sunday roast. Stay at home. Processed chicken n microwave mash would sell better.
Visited last Saturday. The pub wasn't busy. The only time the barmaid spoke was to ask what my order was. When she gave me my drinks she just aimed the card machine at me. When I asked how much the drinks were she just turned the machine around and pointed to the figure. £21 for two vodkas. Overpriced to say the least, seemed like a nice pub but nothing special. Goodness knows what I might have been charged if she had had to speak more than 5 or 6 words!
Had a fantastic experience today at the Midland. Walked in without booking on Mother’s Day and they catered for a party of 14, very polite and helpful staff and a lovely Sunday Roast.. Beautiful Gravy!
Fab pub. Great ale. Generous food portions, I had the spinach and chick pea curry with a side of onion rings (delicious!) Ace manager and staff. Thanks for a great day.
Come to the midland if you want to have the worst dining experience of your life. Not usually accustomed to being told off for ordering food and drinks. Staff are very friendly and polite, NOT! The Sunday dinner needed more sweetcorn too. Pork scratchings the only saving grace of this place. Avoid if you don’t want to have your day ruined.
££6.95 for a pint of coke!
I queries the price and was told that's correct! This was more expensive than a pint of beer morretti....ripped off.
Didn't bother ordering Sunday lunch Incase gravy was same price a pint????
Reading these reviews I know exactly who the grumpy woman on the bar was after todays visit! Me and my partner order a pie and chips and the chips were lukewarm, asked that lovely pleasant cheery woman on the bar to heat it in the microwave for her to come back and say that it will not be possible and the chef would have to re-do the whole thing! All I wanted was hot chips! She then returned from the kitchen to say the chef probed it and it’s “between the right temperatures for serving” I said I only wanted the chips heating up and she then said the same sentence “the chef said it was the right temperature” in a sarcastic manner and stormed off! She then had the audacity when she brought the re done meals out (which were steaming hot this time) to say “let’s try again shall we?” Such a rude sarcastic woman won’t be coming back here again! Funny how the food was steaming hot the second time round clearly the chefs probing stick was faulty the first time! Get better manners and treat your customers with respect!!!
Went for a pint today, and took my mum and uncle who are normally very tolerant of others, but even they said how miserable the bar lady was. It's as if she begrudged me paying for a pint. Had it not been for my company I was close to saying "If it's making you that grumpy, then best quit" The bar and its beer garden were below-par. So much potential. The selection of beer is equally naff. Left half my pint and we went to Buxton. Avoid, but then I would take a picnic and avoid the main street all together....it's depressing when the actual Derbyshire Dales are stunning.
