Nice open seating. It is mostly a self service cafe style place. My favorite BBQ spot in Van Buren. The ribs always fall apart and the brisket is seasoned great. They have potato salad from scratch and several sauces available that complement the smoked meat. This is also a local owned veteran business.
Loved the food, but there just wasn't enough of it for what we paid. We were both still hungry after eating there, but didn't want to order more food because it was expensive. Also, and this is a BIG thing...they ask you to tip prior to getting your food (we did) and then have signs up saying you have to bus your trash (see pic).
If I'm having to get my own drink, my own utensils (see pic...the station for it was pretty cool), and then pick things off my table and throw it away, well, that feels like I'm going to Arby's and not a fine restaurant. And it is a fine looking restaurant, even with the construction still going on. Bottom line, even my wife said she wouldn't go back. I feel bad for saying that because I wanted to like it and I DID like the food (what there was of it), but after you see the pics I think you'll see why we won't be back.
I visited The Meat Station with a group from my work! I ordered the Loaded Potato with Jalapeno Sausage and a bottle of water. It was amazing!! I really liked the sausage specifically. The restaurant was nearly full, and the wait time was reasonable! I thought all of their team members were friendly and Stu was even on the serving line! The atmosphere is unique and there is plenty of seating. A plus is that you can walk through a doorway to a cookie place directly next door for dessert! I highly recommend visiting The Meat Station and supporting this local, Veteran-owned business!
Best smoked meat I have had anywhere. Highly recommend you give them a try. We had the pulled pork and was given a sample of their brisket. Both are excellent. Coleslaw was the best I have had anywhere. Tried all 3 sauces and they are great. Loved the staff and owner interaction with customers. I will definitely eat there again when in the area. Hopefully they will open a restaurant in the Little Rock area.
I had a late lunch at The Meat Station today. Wow. We moved here 4yrs ago from Austin (aka the county seat of Texas BBQ) and we haven’t been able to go back to visit yet. But now I can at least have a taste of home any time at the meat station. ???? Had a great time chatting with the staff and Stu, the owner. The brisket was smoked with a decent ring and pulled apart effortlessly. The burnt ends on my brisket was flavor packed. That’s how you can tell they know what they’re doin. And the side were great! I have the baked potato salad and in house made Cole slaw. I also sampled the baked beans and they were good too. I like that they keep the menu slim and trim focused on making everything the best possible over a “good variety”.
Nice to see the old Sister’s Bistro building back in use! It’s a lovely setting. The BBQ is really good. My husband and I shared the Sampler Platter with an extra side of beans. It was a perfect dish to see what you would like. It had hot links, brisket, pulled chicken, pulled pork, and ribs. It was more than enough for two people or one person with a big appetite. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich to go for our son - he enjoyed it. The sauces are good, also. The Carolina sauce was my fav but the sweet and hot were good, too! Be sure to check their hours though.
We ordered the Sampler that lets you try a little of all the meats they offer, a loaded baked potato, side of slaw, potato salad, baked beans, & drinks. First thing we noticed was how nice everyone was- always a plus and prices were really reasonable for a bbq restaurant. The slaw & baked beans were both great. Potato salad was okay, but not my fav. All the meats tasted pretty good but they were all lukewarm which was odd. Drinks were canned soda & bottled water. Not the best bbq we’ve had but definitely not the worst. For this area, it’s not bad.
Visited the ol hometown for my nephew's graduation and always like to support local businesses. I was pleasantly surprised to see a BBQ place on Main St. so I checked it out. I got a quick order to go, the staff was nice, and the food was good. I'm not a BBQ connoisseur snob or anything and it was good enough for me.
