This may be one of the worst hotels we have stayed at and apparently, the company knows that. Things did not seem right on arrival even though our room was an upgrade. We had to drive around the block twice before it became evident that the entrance was an apparent dead end on the side of the hotel. Once in and in the room, the space between the desk and bed was so limited that one of us cut our hand bumping into it. Dinner at the restaurant at the top was great! But then during the night the refrigerator kept going off and on and waking us. In the morning we could not shower because water was leaking from the fixture above the shower. We skipped and went for breakfast - poor service, dry tasteless breakfast and bad coffee. We told the front desk and on our return to the hotel mid-afternoon, were given another room but should have inspected it. We rested and got ready for an evening affair and even showered. On returning at night, we found multiple problems in that room: wallpaper coming off the wall, crackers behind the night table, crumpled paper beside the couch and wall, charging outlets and night table lamps that were inoperative, a safe cover that would not stay up and crushed our hand, but there was room between the desk and bed, and the refrigerator was quiet. We were given one night's expenses back
I stayed here for 3 nights during a work trip to the home office. They oversold the first night and my colleague was denied a room even though he had a reservation. My room was small, but nice and the bed was comfy. There was a lot of long hair in the bathroom trash can. I am not a fan of the mini bar offerings in the room... they are overpriced, add clutter to the room, and take up room in the mini fridge. I am a titanium Marriott Bonvoy member and it does not get you much here. It was either 1,000 points or a $15 breakfast credit for a "warm bagel". The gym was good and had everything I needed. All n all, I would be happy to stay here again, but it is nothing to write home about.
I had to fly to New Jersey for an emergency (Death in family). I booked this because of the location so I can be close to my family members. Upon checking in the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. I was there for a week and every single one at the hotel was so freaking cool. The valet, the Maintenance people, housekeepers and the awesome Front desk. I can only remember is Tiffany the front desk manger. The valet was always on point and had my vehicle with the heat on waiting for me. The lovely lady in the morning at the restaurant was a plus for someone that had a horrible night. She always had a smile on her face. In all I will say. I wouldn’t hesitate to say there again. Good well done The MC hotel autograph collection.
Absolutely lovely hotel. From the walkable area to the friendly front desk to the modern fixtures to super nice, comfortable and clean hotel room (did I mention I had a terrace). Even a robe and slippers. 10 out of 10! I will definitely be back!
Great location in downtown Montclair, with a view over Manhattan and the hills. | shops and restaurants nearby. Excellent beds and linen, spacious room, good for a longer stay and work. good room amenities, valet service. The restaurants' service and menu choices were mediocre. Hopefully, it will improve when I return.
We stayed here on New Year's Eve to be close to family and the airport at the end of a trip. Of course we should have known that there might be a celebration, but we didn't know it would be one floor above us. Good thing we were really tired because we slept through most of it and we also travel with your plugs, but the thumping sound was definitely very audible when you stay one floor below the rooftop bar/club. I know that a lot of people want to go to this hotel for that so that may be no issue to many. We were able to take it and stride but if you are the fussy time you might want to really be sure or not staying on the top floor. Otherwise the room was really nice and the views were nice. I'd say that was the best part of this stay, which when you're thinking about a hotel I think is the number one thing that they should get right, and they did. The hallways were showing a little bit of wear for a pretty new hotel. Our biggest complaint would be that there is a lack of a true lobby. Except for two chairs and one bench, the whole lobby is dedicated to the restaurant/bar and to a very small self-serve grocery section. But it doesn't have a classic hotel lobby with big couches and some place just to lounge for a little bit and watch people go by. That said, the restaurant /bar was pretty mediocre. They played sports on the TV which kind of detracted from the sort of boutique hotel experience that Marriott was trying to go for here. The front desk staff were much better than the bar staff who gave kind of a typical Jersey attitude. Over all the hotel stay was good. Just be warned about the roof deck as I understand, they do parties every weekend. You might want to be sure you're not staying directly below it, if you are there for a quiet getaway. Though one day we would certainly like to have a nice drink on the roof deck so I'd imagine we will come back at some point.
Great hotel. Good food. Very clean. Friendly staff. The gave our family an upgrade which was very helpful. The suite was large and comfortable. Bed was very comfortable. Our daughters loved the breakfast. Will go back when I’m in need of a hotel in the area.
Stayed here with my family and loved every element from service, to location, to gorgeous interior design found in the rooms. Breanna at the desk was especially nice. Definitely stay here and check out the rooftop, you won’t be disappointed.
