I was super nervous bringing my 3 year old daughter to get her hair braided for the first time, but from the moment we walked in Sydney was super sweet. She went out of her way to make sure my baby girl was comfortable. She was very patient with her in her tender-headed moments and over all just really sweet in calming her down with "Princess magic". My daughter looked super cute and loved her hair. Sydney and the experience was a 10/10! Def recommend
The braids were good but not worth the price and this place wasn’t giving luxury. You can go to any African Braiding Shop and get the same experience. The edges were pulled tight, the wash was basic and they didn’t even know how to wash hair properly, the blow drying of the hair was hurtful. I asked for steaming and the Braider said “I was wasting her time.” The wash bowl was broken and raggedy, the scheduling of appointments was off. I waited almost an hour after arriving on time, I had to buy my own hair because they didn’t have enough of the color they offered. They charge for hair even though the price is already expensive! And don’t talk to me about overhead costs because the building is in the hood. The shampoo and conditioner used to wash my hair was so cheap and not quality products.
I booked literally hours before my appointment. When I got there the Manager & staff were so welcoming & nice. The establishment was very clean & smelled great. I got the small medium knotless waist length braids. Rose & another lady braided my hair so neat & fast; I was done in 3 hours! I definitely recommend Luxe to everyone! I will be back when it's time for my next style.
Paid a deposit for a braid service and waited in a parking lot with no access to a bathroom for 3 hours. The stylist never showed up and my daughter did not receive the braid service just a few text apologies from one of the “owners”. Made multiple attempts to resolve the matter directly and finally I was completely ignored via instagram and text. I will be escalating the matter as my time and money are two things I don’t take likely. This business is unprofessional and unreliable as I’ve seen similar complaints while doing my research. They almost ruined an important event for my daughter had I not found an alternative stylist!
I had the best experience ever. I found my new hairstylist Sydney she was so sweet and my hair came out so perfect and neat. I would definitely recommend
For $435 braids are merely okay… they didn’t understand the color look I was going for even with the pictures i provided from your instagram, so that was frustrating. Also they pushed my appointment back two hours the DAY OF my appointment, like an hour before my appointment was supposed to start. So considering I made the appointment weeks in advance that was another frustration. And it took nearly 7 hours for my hair to get done because majority of the time only one person was working on it even when they told me it would be two. A few hours into my appointment I put my ear pods in to cancel out the loud conversation they were having because I was reading, and one of the ladies were like “oh” and laughed as if I offended her when she was the one talking loud for hours??? No one is trying to hear a loud conversation… and on top of that it wasn’t spoken in English… so I’m realllyyyyyy not trying to hear it.
I’ve had people ask who did my hair but after I say welllll I spent over $400, they immediately say nevermind because it doesn’t look the price. Looks like my homegirl did it in her kitchen. I tell people to go to a regular African braiding shop, they get the same experience for cheaper and maybe even faster.
All that to say, it was far from a “luxe experience”.
Shout out to Rosa & Yemi who did an awesome job on my smedium Gypsy braids.
However, there’s a BUT! I initially inquired through the app on social media if Luxe could do Tree braids and they said yes. I called to make my appt at 3pm Saturday. Luxe acquired my name, number, style, length and color but no price was quoted for what I wanted. Upon arriving at Luxe they didn’t have the correct hair for Tree braids so we changed to Gypsy braids because they had the hair and color I wanted, no big deal on the change I just wanted braids with curls, again no price quoted for the style change. Fast forward to 6 1/2 hours later and the ladies being 95% done with the Gypsy braids and I received an emailed invoice for $1086.75! I was p*ssed off to put it mildly. There was no break down of what I paid for just the price, how unprofessional. I asked was this correct because had I known I was paying $1000 for braids I would have changed to a style under $500 or not at all! I workout everyday and I’m sweating and constantly putting my hair up and down so I never wear braids past 6 weeks and plus I get bored so I need to change up the style. So paying $1000 for any style I’m only wearing for 6 weeks is not a good financial decision! To be fair I could’ve asked for the price but once the style I wanted changed the responsibility now falls on Luxe to make sure I the customer knows what I am paying for! The other young lady in the shop who I’m sure had good intentions insulted me with stating I could make payments. Again payment options should have been discussed prior to starting the service. To be transparent paying the $1086.75 wasn’t the issue it was the lack of communication on what I was paying for is my issue. I then pay the invoice with my Amex and then receive a text 20 min later asking me to authorize the amount, seriously! I hate to think Luxe practices not telling prices to clients and puts them on payment plans!
Lastly, I understand these shops are a new age thing and they have grass walls and want to post on social media and customer service is almost extinct. But if someone books through the app or not the price for the service provided needs to be stated. These braiders constantly start and stop! They are on their phones texting for 10 min during a service and they have ear buds in their ears talking on the phone and hardly talk to you unless you talk to them. I did feel badly I didn’t tip as much and I would’ve but I felt I was dooped. The Luxe Experience only extended through the quality of the braids I received not the entire experience from start to finish.
This was my first time going to Luxe but it definitely won’t be the last. The ladies are so professional and work fast and efficient. i absolutely love my hair and how comfortable they made me feel while there. I’m referring all my friends and coworkers! Luxe is the best salon I’ve ever been to hands down! Great job ladies!????????????????????
