I would describe this as probably the best local pub in the San Juan Islands! The burgers are simply amazing, and the choice of beers from the very basic to the best of microbrewery beers is also extremely satisfying to all tastes. Throw in karaoke, and a wonderful owner/manager and you have "the Lower"

This is THE BEST burger on the island!!
Family went here after getting off the ferry. We were seated quickly. Our server (sub in)was funny and had great hospitality with answering any questions we had,and her son finished off being our server for the night he was just as nice. We ordered and rated out of 10 next to(pictured) classic tavern burger 8, halibut and coleslaw 8(coleslaw a little too dry), patty melt 9, dip burger 9(amazing au jus flavor), patty melt 8.
Our go-to place, nearly every time we are on the island. Excellent value for honest food. One of those places where the owner drops by your table, or at least says 'hi'. It's not a tourist place, since no views or kids, and that's just fine. But adult visitors o OI won't be disappointed if they are looking to see where the locals eat.
It's a bar with cold beer, good food, and friendly service. Fish and chips are top notch. Burger was ridiculously good ???? Staff made us feel welcome. We'll be back! ????
You should rate it based on what you expect. I give it five stars based on the fact that this is a pub, so you should expect decent pub food, but not a fine dining experience. I also can’t knock it because I ordered a chicken burger, and not an Irish item, which is what they are known for being an Irish bar. My girlfriend had the corn beef hash and said it was excellent. We had an amazing view of the water and the staff were friendly.
Overall: food is fine, it’ll fill you up. Good place to just get some grub and a beer.
One of the best bars I've ever been too. The food is fantastic and the staff beyond awesome. The Lower has a massive beer selection that will satisfy any beer lover visiting this establishment. If you're looking for a laid back environment with friendly staff, incredible food and cold beer...this is your spot. Awesome place to visit.

Our server was super friendly! The food was really good and priced fairly.
I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich (crispy) with sweet potatoe fries and loved it! My partner got the Southwest burger with onion rings and he was happy with his meal as well. Both meals came out hot and tasted good.
