Room very basic, one towel for a double room with 2 guests, no toiletries not even hand soap in the bathroom, two very thin pillows no extras in the room. Doors bang when room next door shuts their door, walls had marks and chipped paint all over them. Was quiet though the night. Glad we only had one night there and didn't pay anymore but also not worth what we paid. Pictures are nothing like real life! No Internet
Location was lovely, very quiet even though your right on the road and lovely views from our room (above the pub). Was quiet enough to sleep with the window open all night and not be disturbed.
Room was, okay. Needed a good lick of paint but clean and had everything we needed for 1 night. Although more pillows would of been nice since there's only 1 VERY flat pillow each.
Be aware, breakfast isn't available.
The staff we spoke to ended up bringing the rating down a little. We didn't go into the pub except to check in. Where we were met with a very put out young man, who seemed really annoyed to be dealing with us, even though the pub was quiet and no one else was at the bar. We also spoke to a female member of staff about a local taxi company we could call, we just got told to "google it".
Overall we probably would book another room again since it's cheap (and almost cheerful), it has everything you need for 1 night, but wouldn't stay more than that.
Not good! I chose to drive back home and commute the next morning rather than stay over a noisy pub!||Liked · |Nothing, unfortunately! The whole experience was very uncomfortable and one that I won't be repeating or recommending.||Disliked · |I had booked and paid a few weeks in advance so phoned the day before my stay to confirm my ETA and to check my room number and location. I was informed the keys would be behind the bar (which I hadn't expected as I had booked into the 'Lodge') I queried this and was assured my room was in 'the Lodge'. When I arrived to check in at the pre-arranged time of around 21:00, the car park was very busy, as was the bar ... with a very hearty rendition of 'Rolling Down the River' being performed by what sounded like every person in the bar (probably a typical Saturday night for the venue, and being out of the area I should probably have checked). However, I dodged my way through the very busy bar area and managed to get the attention of a young man who was serving. It was very difficult to make myself heard above the music and general noise or to hear the reply, but I was passed a key with the instruction 'room 3 upstairs'. Back outside in the car park I looked at the lodge and saw that it didn't have an upstairs so went back into the bar, having to wait again to get someone's attention. The same young man as before told me 'round the back and up the stairs ... I said that my room should be ground floor and in the lodge and he said 'room 3 is upstairs'. The stairs turned out to be what looked like the fire escape at the back of the pub and a chap having a smoke near the bottom of the steps looked at me looking up to the top said 'You staying up there, don't worry they usually finish around 1am! After a long and busy day and needing an early start the following morning I chose not to stay! Luckily I was only an hour away from home! I went back into the bar and handed the keys back to the same young man who didn't even acknowledge when I said sorry I'm not staying!
We were in the main building rather than the separate part & so it was quite noisy as the music didn't stop until 11pm. In room 2 the bed furthest from the window sank right down in the middle & was very uncomfortable for me as I have a bad back & need support. There was no soap in the bathroom for washing your hands so you had to tip it out of a bottle which was a waste as you ended up pouring far too much out each time. There was only one towel but we didn't realise until too late so we had to share. Despite all of that the room was a good size, the shower was good & there was tea, coffee & decaff which isn't always the case - could have done with more than one teabag mind
It was the worst hotel I had ever stayed in my life. Access to the room upstairs was like climbing into a bunker, chair in the room badly worn, hole in window blind, pillows almost flat with next to nothing support for the neck. I repeatedly asked for bathing soap with continuous promises that it will be supplied but never came. Shower cubicle could hardly accommodate my size, even though I am not a big person. I was traumatised for weeks after staying in such condition.
Basic, cheap overnight rooms. Only one bed in our twin was comfortable. An overbed light wasn't working and one socket near kettle not working. Only one set of towels for 2 people.
But we just needed a place to sleep!
I was cheaper to stop overnight at The Lodge, than it was to get a taxi to and from the The Olive We were attendintg a tribute night at this venue. The staff were really friendly, even though they were really busy, they were always polte and professional The food was fantastic and well enough for 5 people, we selected various starters to share, also checking to see if any of us had any allergies. The room was fantastic value for money, very clean, bedding lovely and soft, bed really comfortable, had a nights sleep, and a generous amount of coffee, milk and sugar, could not fault it, fabulous place will definatley recommend
Really enjoyed my stay. Ample parking. Comfortable room. Great value. Supermarket and pub nearby.
