This place has an old diner feel and but with a modern look to it. The servers are always friendly and helpful. If you want any kind of substitution, within reason, they're always willing to ask the kitchen staff and majority of the time they can do it. I can honestly say I've never had bad food here. It's always been hot and fresh. I love love love their Cowboy Burger and their breakfast quesadilla.
The reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because even at breakfast, with hardly any customers around, there's no gettin in and out of the place in under 40 minutes. If you want this on your lunch break, order ahead for carryout!
Update: I ordered The Local Wrap for carryout today. When I went into pay, the girls were right on top of my to-go order and even let me sample the bourbon sauce they were using for the special today. They said the owner buys a specific bourbon sauce from somewhere because it's the only 1 they like and will use it for burgers and chicken. Today the special was a crispy chicken bourbon sandwich with bacon, onion rings, and bourbon sauce. The sauce was sooo good. I was definitely kickin myself for not askin what their special was today because I would've definitely ordered that over the wrap since it's always on the menu. I will definitely ask the next time I call what their special is and if they have bourbon sauce.
The Local Wrap is good, but I don't know if I'd order it again. I don't hate it, I just don't love it. I think it might be the avocado that I'm not loving since I'm not a huge fan of it anyways.
I have been coming here for several years. Sitting at the counter sipping a hot cup of joe waiting for my cinnamon roll is a great feeling. Perhaps a bit expensive, but pretty good food. The staff is always friendly and prompt.
It was busy when I went but the cinnamon roll pancake was delicious. Portions were very generous. Otherwise no frills basic breakfast food. I’m excited to try lunch.
I really love the food, hot and as ordered. Service is beyond 5 stars. Atmosphere is a clean, well cared for and relaxing.
I love the friendly staff, fast service and the food is great. If you're in town during the Farmers Market I recommend stopping in for a bite. It will give you a chance to enjoy the Farmers Market and yourself. While you dine looking out the window seating at all of the wonderful vendors and visitors. I enjoy and recommend the Rum Custard French Toast. I simply enjoy The Local Eatery. I can't wait to stop back in.
Food was good and hot. Service was awesome. Stop in and have a bite. Don't forget to get a cinnamon roll, crazy good.
Nice little diner in the heart of Hillsdale. Good food at great prices.
