Best KPortal Reviews
Wonderful coastal views at this very pleasant seaside cafe. Outdoor and indoor seating. The scampi and chips were really good, the best we have had. The owner and staff were very friendly too and the prices were good. Water bowl for dogs.
Excellent location! While many reviewers have mentioned the pricing being on the higher side for the offerings, my experience echoed those sentiments. Priced at £8.50, the tea and scone for one felt a bit steep. Moreover, an additional charge for flavored tea or coffee caught me by surprise, especially when the coffee quality didn't match the expectations. The staff's coffee-making skills left something to be desired, evident from the noisy milk steamer and the underwhelming coffee that arrived—more like a weak, adorned coffee than a proper cappuccino.
Despite these drawbacks, the picturesque surroundings and the delightful taste of the scones did manage to salvage the experience. It's disappointing to see that a place with such potential seems to have taken a downturn since my previous visits. Here's hoping that the management will heed the feedback shared by patrons and work towards resolving these issues. While I'm willing to pay a premium for quality, the current offerings fell short of meeting that standard.
Just had drinks after being on the beach
Great views from the cafe garden.
Only popped in for a pot of tea, but great view of the bay, which considering the stunning weather was really quiet, and the delicious looking food on the other tables mean we will be back. Am in two minds as to whether to post this review as the beach here appears to be a hidden gem ;)
Lovely cafe with friendly, helpful staff. Seating inside & outside. Views over the bay. Great coffee ☕???????? Range of savoury items. Cakes, tray bakes, ice cream etc. Children's menu. Outside tap to refill water bottles & dog bowls. £10 minimum spend for card payment.
Brilliant little place. We happened across Portwrinkle beach unintentionally, as all other local beaches were very busy. The Jolly Roger sits above the beach and is the only place close by to get food or drink (or ice creams and a few beach things, boards, tents, etc). I was surprised by how nice the sandwiches and pasties were. Freshly made and not too expensive (not overly cheap, but bare in mind there is nowhere else to eat).
Definitely worth a visit, both to the beach with lots of shrimp filled rock pools and The Jolly Roger for lunch.
Visited today and what a shame the experience was spoilt by the young staff.
The girl on the counter showed no people skills whatsoever and when asked about local buses another young man knew no useful information and made no attempt to offer to find anything out.
The food was ok, although eye watering in cost. Don't think I will be rushing back.
Decent views, reasonable parking prices and dog friendly make this worth a stop.
Unfortunately the drinks fridge wasn't working very well at the time of our visit and they had no ice meaning we were stuck with room temprature cider.
The beach below is also dog friendly but small and largely shale.
