Baaabbyyy!!!! When I tell you this is my absolute favorite African spot out of all the African spots I’ve tried so far in Indy. I absolutely love it! I’m from Chicago so to find a spot similar to the ones I know of in Chicago this place is that. I usually order through DoorDash when I’m at work, because they’re no where near my house.! I usually get the, jollof rice with (Shaki), the Okra soup, cow skin, and sometimes the Efo soup and the Egusi soup.! When I tell you they have the best swallow I normally get FuFu but I’ve also tired the others. This place is definitely in my opinion hands down the best in Indy.!
Amazing Nijia (Nigerian) food place here in Indianapolis. I'm visiting Indy and was on the hunt for Nigerian food (people don't know that their are many different kinds of African food (their are 54 different countries on the African continent people!!!). Anyway. I wanted Jollof and Chicken. I searched and read reviews and saw the owner at war with some people ignorant of the cuisine. ROFL. I laughed and popped the address in and drove straight to the restaurant. When I pulled up and saw the parking lot full...that's how you know the food is legit ooo! Little bit dark inside and seats way too high and uncomfortable as hell but I'm not here for the decor, I'm here for the food!!! (Tip for owner...get some real chairs!!! Your seating is horrible!).
The Asun Grilled Goat dish was ????????????! The flavors were banging! I started ripping these apart. You see...you don't eat with no fork, you use your HANDS ????️????. That's how you get that ful flavor! The Chicken and Rice came out. Listen...anyone who knows..knows. it's war when it comes to Jollof! This one wasn't overly spiced out and it was tasty with the right amount of red sauce grease on your fingers!!! Oh, I put the phone down and started ravaging the food then.
This place is official. The food is on point and delicious ????. Stop eating fast food and come eat this! It's fat boy recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We came to this location not knowing what to expect and we were very pleased. We visited for lunch on a Saturday so there wasn't a crowd. Great place to watch some footie while relaxing on banquettes with your food laid out on low tables like coffee tables.
We'd never really had West African and Caribbean before so we were glad to receive suggestions and assistance from a patron and the owners. The Puff Puffs were excellent as an appetizer. We ended up getting the goat and chicken jollof meals and Asaro, if my memory is correct. Portions were large enough to take some home and still fill up for lunch. We will definitely be going back.
Giving a whole new meaning to Nigerian scam. This restaurant is quite possibly the worst Nigerian restaurant in Indianapolis if not the worst. It’s clear that they don’t care about their food or their customers. When I got to the restaurant I was greeted by no one and the restaurant was empty, filthy and looked like a boarded up abandoned building. After ringing the bell for a few minutes someone took my order it wasn’t until I paid that they told me they were out of goat meat she came back and said she’s just going to give me beef instead without even asking I said I wanted to choose and while I was choosing she went ahead and gave me beef anyway. I insisted on turkey and they said they would make the change but when I got home they still gave me beef. The cashier clearly didn’t care about working there she seemed so reluctant and the egusi soup was completely stew without any egusi the pounded yam was about 2 tablespoons as you can see in the photo. No stock fish no crawfish no towel or tripe not a hint of love in the food. All they care about is getting your $20 from you. Biggest scam ever
If there’s not an event going on, you can still expect this place to still show you the upmost service. Even so, the people here are fast and the ownership is even more amazing. They want you to experience their culture and enjoy their food. We got to go food with my African coworker with chicken, fufu, and jollof and it tasted amazing to me (my coworker said it was very authentic). It was a nice place to support your locals 5/5
I ordered egusi soup with chicken & fufu, all because i saw a tiktok of nigerian food, I looked up nigerian restaurants of indy and The Jollof Buka looked amazing! I went and the guy who took my order was very nice and sweet in helping me make a decision since I had never tried Nigerian food before. Trying new foods can be a little scary sometimes because you don’t know what to get or say and worry about looking dumb but he was awesome!! I got home and the food was DELICIOUS!! must try in indianapolis ????????
Food was very decent!!! Tastes exactly like something I’d make for myself at home, hence why I enjoyed it for lunch at work. I ordered carryout from DoorDash. I feel like portion sizes are smaller for the price you pay. I ordered jollof rice one small plate at $11.99, jerk chicken (2 drumsticks) $9.99 and I ordered Indomie noodles for around $12 came with protein. Overall, good food, and I might order again whenever i just want homemade type food for lunch at work.
This food is amazing, hot, and fresh. The portion sizes I have received are always good too. For me, the food is worth every penny. I’ve had West African food from many cities and this is my favorite spot.
When I come to town I always have to stop here and get lunch. The owner is friendly and provides great customer service. Hands down, this is the spot for African food in this city.
