This resort is nice. The grounds are lovely and it's a beautiful area. Our host have us the wrong directions to our room, which was a circus of driving around, looking. It's a tough drive for a new visitor, not much is marked. No signage for the most part and finding Little Belle #5 was almost impossible. It's behind a bush and you literally need to go up to the door on each cabin to see what number cabin it is. No signs until you're around the bush. Certainly no signs at the parking where you are. Room is pretty. We had a king & jet tub. You do need an engineering degree to be able to read the instructions for using the tub. My jet tub, is 1 button. This one, I'm saying was almost impossible to turn off, let alone turn on! Advertising says fireplace, get there and BIG SIGN sorry, your fireplace is broken. So don't use it. Still can't figure out how to use the TV. Never did get it to work. I felt accomplished, we did get it turned v on at least for it to say, NO SERVICE - INTERNET DISRUPTION - We paid $152 a night in the off season but if I paid full price for this accommodation, I would of been a bit disappointed. Was not the best experience.
We booked this place for a nice vacation/staycation while traveling to the Sleeping bear dunes. The first feeling when we arrived here was wonderful. But soon it turned into a horrible nightmare. The room was quite chilly, and the fireplace was out of function (would remain that way until Fall). After a long and tiring drive, we wanted to take a hot shower. About 30 seconds later, the water turned ice cold with no signs of warming up again. Perhaps their boiler was not functioning properly. I had shampoo on my head but the water was so cold that it was impossible to stay in the shower. We called the front desk to ask if they can send someone to fix the water issue, or move us to a different room, or at least let is take a shower in a different room as the entire property was literally empty (perhaps two or three guests only). However, the front desk lady (Jennifer) was extremely rude and unwilling to provide any help to solve the issue. Having a hot shower available is such a basic necessity and the hotel staff doesn’t even acknowledge that it’s their responsibility to provide such basic amenities. Things can always go wrong anywhere, but if the hotel staff is so unwilling to provide their assistance to remedy an issue in anyway, poor experiences like this are likely to happen more often than not. Never coming back here to stay and would strongly recommend against staying here. You might get lucky, but if you’re not, you’re by yourself and likely to suffer.
Went up there for a tour, we are planning on having our wedding there next year. The room we stayed in was in fiddlers pond & was a very nice room. The resort is in-between seasons so not much going on yet but the grounds themselves were beautiful. Presli the events coordinator was super friendly and helpful
Perfect location, nice rooms, trails, private beach but also a dozen public beaches within a half hour of here. Glen Arbor is an adorable little beach town with cute shops, restaurants with outdoor seating (seasonal), saw 2 kayak rental places right along the main road, fishing charters right nearby
I would suggest anyone STAY AWAY from this place as far as you can. The shower had no hot water and the staff on duty Jennifer was extremely rude and had zero sense of responsibility. She offered either downgrading us to a room that had far less facilities than what we have paid for, or just stay without shower and receive a small discount. How ridiculous! The attitude was basically take it or leave it, not a single word of apology, zero willingness to help. Here are quotes:
“If you are not going to use jacuzzi, what difference does it make moving to a room without it?”
“There is nothing I can do, it’s your responsibility to speak to the manager tomorrow.”
“I can’t let you go to another room to take shower, otherwise we will need to clean two rooms.”…
There is a sign at the front desk saying “if these is a amiss, please speak in a quite voice”, now I can totally see where this is coming from and have full sympathy for people had to go through such things in the past. This place is just not interested in hearing from customers or fixing any problem. Save you vacation and go somewhere else!!!
This is the best place we have visited, very large, clean and beautiful area, luxurious rooms, beautiful view from the window, we definitely need to come back here, I highly recommend staying here, pleasant and polite staff. Thank you very much
Such a great place! It was our first visit and we had such a nice time. The grounds are beautiful. Very wooded and shaded. Ski lift not working, but it was July. Food was great. S’mores were delicious. People were friendly.
It is almost impossible to find current information about skiing, snow conditions - they do not update their website or social media.
Rooms are okay, furniture is dated, towels are horrible, tvs are outdated, HVAC systems are spotty at best!
Service is stretched to its absolute limits, more than likely due to staff shortages, but for the prices they charge - unacceptable. Restaurants change hours or close without warning. Hard to get a straight answer from anyone when you ask.
The location is amazing! When it first opened the Homestead was the place to be...not so much anymore.
