This to those who don't no it is a hidden gem.when you come across it from the outside it looks just like a normal average village pub.on entering it changes into a lovely warm welcoming place.its all down to the way it's decorated with all the bits and bobs plus the lighting it transforms the place into a cosy atmosphere.the staff are very pleasant and the food and drink is very good.i highly recommend you book a table in advance as it is a very popular place.if you are in the area and have some time on your hands it is well worth booking a table there are not many places like this around,I hope you will be surprised like we were when we entered this lovely place,it makes out to be a lovely evening I’m sure you all will enjoy,I hope my review has helped you if you like it please give it a ???? up,Thank you.
Absolutely beautiful food drinks are great and the staff are amazing can't fault at all
We spent a week staying nearby and ate out every night. I can safely say this was the best restaurant by miles.
The food was incredible, all home made, fresh and super tasty. Yes it's a tad (£1-£2) more expensive however the quality is well worth it. We had a selection of food however I have to mention the dauphinoise potatoes were exquisite - so delicious.
An excellent restaurant with great staff (they squeezed us in with no reservation - although please do book!). I wish it was closer! Worth the trip for sure.
We have used The Holywell many times over several years. We have seen the ownership change, both
good and bad. But none would compare with the excellent present ownership. Vic and Paulette have
done a great job with the improvements they have made, both inside ( great ambience) and out, and the
food (cooked by Paulette is delicious - the best Sunday roast in the area ) !!????????????
Lovely little country pub. Landlord was really friendly and brought us tea and cake sitting on the outside sofas in the sunshine. Thoroughly recommended.
Made a reservation for Sunday roast. We were the second sitting- waiting for the people before us- we ordered whilst waiting, before sitting and about 15 mins after our 1:30 reservation we sat.
Service was friendly. Starters came at around 2:25 (only 2 people ordered starters). Delicious. Mains served about 15-20 minutes later.
I must emphasise that the service and food was great. It was actually the timing of everything that was more than disappointing. We were a group of 6 adults and one child and we were ravenous by the time the food arrived.
When we spoke to the owner (discreetely) about the slow service, he was very confrontational, offering a weak apology afterwards and no discount.
As a local, showing my out-of-country family the best of England, I was sadly disappointed at the slow service and defensive attitude of the owner.
Had a Christmas meal here. Lovely pub, friendly staff and the food was fantastic. I had Game Wellington which was full of flavour and absolutely delicious, followed by Baileys panna cotta which was heaven on a plate.
Simply awesome! Beautiful food, fabulous atmosphere, lovely staff and cosy setting. You wouldn't like it! It our find!
