Only popped in for a couple of games of pool. The pool was free on Sundays, and they had put out free cheese and crackers . Ended up staying for a few pints and a few games of pool. Staff/owner was really friendly. Tvs up and showing sports, which was cool. I will deffo be going back.
Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Makes for a great dog friendly pub + the owners dog is gorgeous!
Seems friendly enough, but went in on a Saturday afternoon and the horse racing was on at high volume to an audience of old men.
Nice enough place but not my sort of pub. Guinness was only £4.40
Edit: Just added a star as I've noticed there are cling-film wrapped egg rolls on the bar. Proper old-school.
Edit Nov 23 I really like this place - funny pub singer on a late sunday afternoon. Really friendly.
Ive attended the pub on a few occasions, Great staff, Great service.
We organised a event there and the staff were amazing and managed to accomodate us all was a great night. Good prices and good environment would recommend.
Came here for a drink with a friend. Sign said there'd be a warm welcome, which there wasn't, but I felt really comfortable there. It's a decent space, nice crowd on a Wednesday night. Good beer, would be nice to have some more varied nibbles but otherwise great pub!
Walked past and driven past this pub and always wanted to try it. I (wrongly) thought that it was a bit spit & sawdust, but I actually found it to have a good atmosphere without the pretence that many hipster brighton pubs have nowadays.
The barstaff are super helpful and friendly and the prices very reasonable. I have not tried the food yet, but the outside seating area is really nice, with kids being able to play.
All in all a good pub for those who just want a drink in friendly surroundings & without having to sell their liver to pay for it. Bravo The Hollingbury!
What a poor experience I had. Go there as my boyfriend is there, just arrived I start to discuss with him weather to stay ot leave as they maybe don't do food. Not even 2 minutes later a lady, quite rude, comes around telling me that if I don't order I have to leave, so I say I don't fancy anything at the minute but I'll make my mind up within five minutes. She says she can't allow me to stay if I don't order right then, so I challenge the fact that I'm deciding but she keeps on saying that I couldn't and had to leave, so I did.
This wasn't just unpleasant and rude but also unreasonable and makes think I would never go there again.
Only popped in for one, ended up staying for several. Had a great evening. The owner Mark was very friendly and welcoming. The garden looks great. Always a good evening out.
