Fantastic and complete list of hundreds (1000’s?) of whiskies from around the world. We had a custom built flight, designed by Paige, the most knowledgeable and friendly hostess I have experienced. A fine evening out. Foods included delicious selections of Cod, Calamari, Bangers and Mash and Beef Pastie. Also we enjoyed a traditional Scottish egg. Go there, but plan on giving it time to taste. And ask to be seated in Paige’s section!
First time here; my cousin who has lived in Oregon city for a while had also never been here so drove in the blinding rain and 69° weather 2 meet her and her partner here.
I gave a lower rating for service NOT becuase my server was not good --- she was EXCELLENT! However, when I arrived and until slowly past Happy Hour, she was the only one serving downstairs and there were 2 tables of 2 1 large table of 6 and my table of 3.
She did well to keep up but I think that more help should have been alotted there.
The Highland Stillhouse was an outstanding place for a first date! The building was impressive from the outside and I was blown away when I went inside, everywhere I looked were visual treats to take in. There were so many rooms to explore, even an upstairs, and the bathroom was really spacious and cool.
I am looking forward to coming back again and trying some food ????
Was very disappointed this time around as I was looking for the atmosphere that would bring back memories from time in Scotland. There was no bagpipes or scottish music and though it was a busy evening was a bit put off by being passed over with people that came in after us. When asked for steak and mushroom pie was brought what appeared to be onion soup. When I asked about this they brought out and flaky biscuit with a scotty dog imprinted on it. The biscuit became chewy and soggy in the bowl. The bread pudding was bread minus the pudding with whipped cream on top instead. There was one area that had some atmosphere similar to a pub but it was empty and seemed cold and we were somewhat forgotten in that area.
Came here for the first time for my birthday, and it was amazing! The food was great, live mucis was so awesome and the vibes were the best! There is even a nice little patio with pretty lights. We will definitely be coming back.
We ended up here on Mother's Day around 2pm. The breakfast/lunch crowd was mostly gone and shift change was happening. The covered picnic tables offered a great view and a nice breeze. The waitstaff were very friendly and attentive, but not distractingly so. We ordered drinks and they were delivered very quickly. I was not unhappy with my choice and I love the glass it was served in. We realized we were a bit hungry so we ordered of the appetizer menu. My husband got the curry vegetarian pastie and I ordered "Nessie Tenders" (chicken fingers, basically) with mashed potatoes. They bread and fry the chicken the same way, with the same ingredients (I think) as the fried fish they serve and it was DELICIOUS; really hit the spot. I could only eat three of the five although I nearly polished off those potatoes - garlic mashed with skin on - so good! Overall we were very happy we stopped by. We love the outdoor seating and to be honest, I've never seen the inside of the place! (Maybe this fall/winter, LOL.)
Always a fun bar to visit. Their collection of whiskey is extraordinary and you will always find something you have not tried before. For me, it was this New Zealand whiskey which I thought was rather good. I will continue to patronize for the years ahead.
We love The Highland Stillhouse. Better than average pub fare. Deep Whisk(e)y & Bourbon selections. Craft beer, cider & mead. Friendly service. Cute Scottish decor. Indoor & outdoor seating. Views of the falls. Only drawback: pint glasses need better cleaning.
