Your first challenge will be to find a parking space at the always busy Hanalei centre. Not for beginners, but stick at it for your reward!
We were fortunate to find a spot and get a table in the Gourmet
Sadly I was driving so no beer for me. Lemonade was refreshing and tasted home made.
Delicious choice of sandwiches. I went for the local version of a Reuben, and it was really good ????
Catch of the day was Marlin. Battered as fish and chips. Again very good. Chips (or fries here) were crispy and tasty.
Highly recommended.
As for the parking spot : may the odds be forever in your favour ????
Worst service of Kauai. Excellent food. Our server Jessica, was an unhappy, miserable waitress. She looked/talked to me with disdain and when I asked if they have a cocktail menu, she looked at me with the most annoying face and told me “we can make anything”. With that response I decided to order just water. When the food arrived, I immediately asked for salt and pepper, she apparently forgot and the next time she came was to give us the check. The food was really good but honestly with that service I prefer going to another restaurant .. unfortunately.
This place looked promising .. but unfortunately our waitress was not very kind .. did not answer any questions - she actually forgot about us - we waited almost 50 minutes to get our fish - I know it doesn’t take that long to make fish ☹️ .. the drinks were okay . The fish actually tasted good and the live music was very nice but we will not come back to this spot
If you're looking for the best fish and chips on the island, look no further than The Hanalei Gourmet. It's a laid back atmosphere, with a great bar, lovely service, and super fresh food. It's one of my favorite spots on the North Shore. Don't walk past this one, it's definitely worth a stop! And don't miss Happy Hour from 5-7 pm!
Great food and service! I took my family here on a whim because my grandma wanted a fish sandwich for lunch. We waited half an hour and it was well worth it. Our waitress was delightfully conversational, and even appeared to be proud of the food. The fish and veggies taste fresh, and the fries are the crispy breaded kind. We later came to find out that our waitress is the daughter of the owner. Well, this is a great family establishment that we are looking forward to coming back to!
This place is very nice. The food was delicious and the service was great. Like most places on the islands the prices were kind of high, but that's normal. The portions were hearty and filling. Staff is friendly and attentive. Most Loco Moco with the fries was fantastic as were the fish and chips. Would recommend!
We visited here for dinner, we waited about 15 minutes around 6:45 pm on a Tuesday. I recommend having a beer, I enjoyed a big swell IPA on tap prior to the meal. My husband and I share the burger, we asked for a fried egg on top and that enhanced it. I loved the burger after having that beer, while my husband who did not have beer said it was decent. My parents had the fish tacos and they were happy with that. We also had the Kauai pie, which was good.
Food was delicious and the service was excellent. We got hot dogs for the kids and they were cooked perfectly with grill marks and delicious French fries, we also got the fish tacos and the grilled fish sandwich. The fish tacos were huge, I ordered two thinking it was a typical size taco, but each taco seemed like a burrito! One was literally enough for me! The fish sandwich was actually super delicious as well. My husband ate my other taco and the sandwich and left nothing behind except for some fries! Highly recommend this place.
