This is THE place in Hanalei. The staff is so nice and chill, and their advice on what food to get is great! The sushi is phenomenal. I am not the biggest fan of shrimp, but the “Next Best Thing” roll is amazing. The sauce on it is next level, and everything in it balances so well. The fish is all very fresh and well prepared. The calamari app is also very good, would recommend. Best things is to split food items so you can try both the hot food and sushi! It is also kind of great that this place is first come first serve (i.e. you don’t have to plan your life out in advance and make a reservation). Though that might also mean a bit of a wait and having the opportunity to stare and enjoy the beautiful Mountain View that this area has to offer. For anyone who says the “food in Hanalei is bad,” they clearly have not tried the dolphin.
This was hands down the best dining experience we’ve had on our trip to Hawaii.
We were in a bit of a hurry to catch our flight but stopped anyway and it was 100% the correct decision. Amber provided top notch, friendly and efficient service. She had great suggestions and got us out the door with plenty of time to get to the airport. The Sunset sushi roll was TO DIE FOR. Best sushi my partner and I have had. And the atmosphere and setting is open air and breathtaking. Really incomparable honestly. We were so glad for this to be our last experience in Hawaii before heading back to New York. Thank you!!
I agree with the other reviews-the fish is great here. Plus the portions are a bit more generous than some of the other places we ate. We arrived dirty & hungry after an all day hiking adventure. They were very gracious, served us quickly and even took a few moments to chat about the hike. Also of note, the Mai Tai's are big and yummy!
Service was the only problem here they seemed slightly annoyed by us showing up. No attempt to refill drinks after purchasing a $10 lemonade. The food overall is very high quality and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. It was worth the 45 min drive to the north side. The brownie was on point and saved this from being a 3 star review.
There was chickens picking at my feet but besides that the steak was good and the drinks were good. Sushi was great and lobster too. Artichoke crowns were the best if you like cheese
To die for. 100% amazing. Don’t stop, instead, run and get the best sushi and grilled market catch of the day. Great service. Great food. I’m leaving incredibly happy. And full. I might need to make the trip back just for this amazing dinner spot!
We’ve been here twice and both times we had a wonderful meal. I highly recommend the stuffed mushrooms appetizer! You can’t make reservations, and you can begin queueing as early as 4:30pm for their 5:00pm opening.
Super cool atmosphere. We ordered sushi and fish and both were pretty good. Lots of good drinks available as well. Very nice service.
