Best KPortal Reviews
This is one of my absolute favorite places to come back to. The workers are always friendly and the food is always great! Highly recommend. The white sauce is amazing. Beware the red sauce, it’s very spicy and will sneak up on you with how hot it is.
I always stop here if I'm in the area. They offer chicken, gyro, and Falafel platters. Add toppings like Jalepeños, lettuce, tomatoes, green onions, peppers and naan bread. Always add the white sauce, a mayonnaise/yogurt based sauce, and of course, lots of their red sauce, a very well balanced spicy sauce. Service here is always great. They make sure you know how spicy the red sauce is if you get a lot by saying "have you had this sauce before?" I'm in love with it so I'm putting at least a cup of it on my platter.
1/28/23-About average food. Some of it is really over priced, like a little cup of hummus for nearly $5 even though it is a cheap item to make and then it was less then half full. Their platters are an average to below average quality. When compared to the platters at Garbanzo they are not worth the money. At least Garbanzo gives you several different items whereas here they fill it mostly with lettuce and very little else. Instead of calling it a platter they should just call it a salad. The white sauce was disappointing. It was basically watered down ranch dressing. The only good thing at this place was the falafels, but even they had so much grit to them I was worried about cracking a tooth. Was hoping this could be a new place to go, but was just disappointed.
Ordered the chicken to go. The flavor of the food was as expected in comparison to other Halal guys locations on the east coast. Would recommend the chicken and this location. Plenty of parking in the front. Staff was friendly.
Honestly this is the 7th “The Halal Guys” location I’ve been to, so I’m not new to their food. I’m not lying when I say I was literally drooling on my 6+ hour drive here from NM, just because I knew we were stopping here. So this review could be biased BUT literally… the workers here were 10/10 sweet, funny, kind, and personable. They actually knew what I wanted when I said “fry platter” (had to explain that at 2 other locations), and it turned out amazing… The sauce was fantastic, but man watch out for that red! The heat can very hard on location (NY cart is unreal), but this location definitely had our eyes watering with 2 lines, and so the workers were kind enough to add more white as we joked with them. I literally bought a cooler for the drive back, and before leaving bought 50+ packets of sauce to take home. The didn’t have the BIG white sauce bag, but hopefully next time we come back, they will. You won’t regret coming here, just go try it yourself!
Massive shoutout to this new location for being outstanding, thank you!
For the amount of food it is a good deal however it is very bland. The chicken tastes like boiled chicken with no seasonings. The rice was the only thing that was somewhat decent with seasoning. The white sauce is mediocre at best. It gives more of a ranch taste which doesn't blend well at all with anything in the platter. My husband got the beef platter and the only saving grace was the hot sauce. Just could be a lot better.
Came on second day of opening. Too many people working on the line. Bathrooms and tables could be checked on for cleaning.
Now the food:
Very okay. I’m glad we have authentic halal and gyros here because this doesn’t represent it well at all. Everything barely warm. Nothing hot!Fries not fresh or crispy. Rice bland bland. White sauce is hyped. The falafel is good and the red sauce is truly spicy and tasty. That’s it.
I expected a piping hot bowl and wrap with exceptional flavors. Oh and they dump sides on top of your gyro instead of evenly spreading it so when you eat it, it will all fall on your lap.
I ordered takeout, I arrived a couple minutes early and they acknowledged me by name right away and got my food out quickly. The service was quality. In all fairness, I am not a white sauce fan, so for me the platters are a bit bland. The gyro meat is good, the falafel has a very herby flavor, and the red sauce is indeed hot! The baklava is delicious and definitely worth going back for.
