You get what you pay for. We paid less than £50 at very short notice to stay here. It was clean and quiet and perfectly well equipped. |Lovely and warm room, the bed was very comfy and the shower was absolutely perfect. |We received regular communication and very clear and precise instructions on how to get into the building and then the room.|Everything was exactly as described and this was a completely hassle free way to start a weekend.|I understand that others will find it difficult that there is no personal welcome, but having read the reviews we were well aware of what to expect and had no issue at all with it.|This business deserves to do well, they're providing an affordable service with the minimum of fuss and we will definitely come back in the future.
Staff went into my room and removed my property. Currently speaking with the police as items have gone missing. the management and staff are the worse I have ever come across. ignore all messages or reply weeks later not acknowledging anything that you’re asking. And this is not even mentioning the absolute state of the rooms. Thick dust everywhere, lights broken, filthy mattresses, broken bed frames, hot water in the shower not working ….
Tiny uncomfortable beds. Tiny sink, couldn't fit kettle in to make a brew. Not serviced all week, one towel one bog roll... . Staircase to room dangerously steep and no turning space at top,how it passed building regs I don't know. Television was tiny but it didn't matter couldn't get it to work. Avoid this place.
This hotel looked lovely and quaint on the out side. But was very grubby and dusty in rooms with beetles like insects walking across grubby floors. Toilet didn’t flush no reception after three o’clock. Tried calling emergency number 26 times with no response absolutely awful experience never return
Stayed in room 2 and cannot fault the accommodation. Great shower and double bed plus single. Downstairs is closed for renovation which may be a good thing as there was no noise. Great price and no complaints. Would book again. Can't comment on service as all self check in but drinks and kettle provided as well as a decent sized TV on the wall.
If it were possible I would give 0 stars. Booking in was over the phone and awkward. Room was basic but appeared OK for the price. Just after midnight water started pouring into the room through an electrical fitting in the ceiling and then the power blew. Tried several times to phone the contact number without success. The water eventually stopped but with a soaking floor and no power I ended up sleeping in my car. To this day, neither my daughter (who made the booking nor I have received any response to numerous calls and emails. Management has truly gone to ground.
I booked a room in the Golden Lion Hotel in Middlewich. No such place exists ! There is a building in the same location named “The Middlewich Taphouse”. It would have been good to know.|There appear to be no staff whatsoever at the property. I arrived at around 15.45, wondering what to do, I eventually received a text with my room number and the code for the main door at around 16.20.|The room was dingy, with little light and only a very hard chair to sit on. But what really troubled me was that the room door had a lock that could very easily be unlocked from the outside with just a coin, anyone could get in through the night.
This is/was a pub with rooms, not an hotel. Currently under refurbishment there are no on site amenities. No reception, no bar, no restaurant, no on site staff. Access is provided by an email or text giving the door code, and room number. A pity we, a family of five, did not get the code before check in time of 3 pm, and had to chase the owner (who is working remotely) by phone and text. After 30 minutes the code arrived, and room numbers given. Then another text with a change of room numbers. It was frustrating. The rooms, on the top floor, were small but clean with en suite shower rooms. It was quiet at night. The rooms are basic, but the price reflects this. The walls are thin, so be aware! One towel per person, a large hand towel really. No toiletries provided. Plug sockets not necessarily where needed. We had a dim central light, no side lights by the bed, and only one bedside cabinet for a double room. The mattress was quite soft but we slept OK. The shower was powerful, but the sink tap was broken.
