Purchased a Groupon voucher for afternoon tea, very reasonable price for 4 people. Lovely place, lovely selection of fresh sandwiches and delicious scones and cakes and friendly staff, definitely recommend.
I love this place ❤️ been several times with friends and family. The afternoon Tea is gorgeous ???? mixed sandwiches, scones, 3 different cakes and tea or coffee refills if you have standard, or a glass of prosecco each if you have the sparkling afternoon tea. Regularly on Groupon so you can get great deals if its just out your budget. Fantastic idea to give as a gift. Very pleasant staff, homemade cakes, a lot of thought has gone into the decor, its very aesthetically pleasing, rustic and cosy feel with the wooden tables. Outdoor seating, toilets, upstairs seating, large groups catered for, full bar, event nights .... It has it all ????
Extremely Disappointed all round. Visited May 24 with my wife, using a voucher for an afternoon tea our daughter had saved and bought as a present. Initial impression was a nice quiet coffee shop. Unfortunately that's the only positive I can give. They required 24hrs notice for the 'Afternoon Tea' so the food was prebooked (why I have no idea as it was hardly busy and consisted of bare minimal input. A pot of tea, with 2 Tea bags so was quite weak. Sandwiches where Egg Mayo, cream cheese and cucumber, Ham and salmon and rocket 2 quarter triangles of each so all in all slices of bread each. No crisps, so I asked to but some, the waitress looked at me in disgust, walked to the kitchen and returned to say they had ran out. So we ordered a portion of chips - which were slightly undercooked. 2 scones, that were dry and just crumbled apart and the cream was Elmlea (at least thats what was in the fridge) half whipped and still runny so very messy and difficult to eat, not great. Although on the counter side there were 6 options of cakes we weren't given an option, but 2 pieces of Lemon Drizzle (winner my favourite), Almond cake and a Spiced Pear cake. What a disappointment! Lemon Drizzle was dry and tasteless, Spiced Pear was moist but just tasted of cinamon and the Almond cake sucked every drop of moisture out of my body - just awful! 1 bite out of each was more than enough!
As I sat there throughout I kept smelling wet dog, turned out to be the napkins, at a guess not dried properly and had gone musty.
The staff in general seemed miserable and uninterested, not once asked if everything was OK. When I went to pay for the chips I told them about the cakes and was just asked if I wanted a receipt, no explanation, no apology, no offer of exchange or another option. Think the normal price is around £30, I would say its an absolute waste of money, and would be surprised if buying individually would come anywhere close to this. Extremely disappointed!!!
The sandwiches and cakes were made very nice freindly staff. But unfortunately we were placed upstairs witch wasn't a problem until we noticed the carpet had not been hoovered food crumbs and stored equipment piled in the corner the glass balcony screen had dirty finger marks all over witch we had to sit looking at plus the top window ledge was thick with dust and dead flys sorry for this review but the food was lovely ????
Lovely place, staff polite, helpful. Went with my mum for an afternoon tea and it was lovely. Happy they actually had smoked salmon on the sandwiches. Scones delicious. Cakes fabulous.
I took my mum for afternoon tea for Mother's Day , the service and food was excellent, really couldn't fault it .The only downside is the way the sun shines through the windows directly on to the customers and tables next to the window , I covered our food with the napkin to keep the sun from drying it out , its a pity they haven't got some blinds to pull down or across . I would still highly recommend it though , just wear some sunscreen lol ????.
Lovely Afternoon tea however attention needeto surrounding areas and cleaning. We were upstairs and felt that we were in a store room. Poker table lying on its side crumbs all over the floor coushions piled in the corner.. Glass partition needed cleaning also piping and widowsill very badly need dusting and covered in dead flies/insects.
We had the afternoon tea. It was fine but personally we both would have preferred a little more savoury, a little less cake. So perhaps a few more sandwiches or a couple of sausage rolls. With the very nice scones/jam/cream, the amount of cake was just too much.
