I was told they were down a waitress and busier than usual being Christmas week…. We did wait 25 for food, not bad they actually cook real food! Everyone that I saw that worked there was running their butts off… yes they need to hire a few folks, but it’s a cool spot downtown for sure.
This has become one of my favorite places to have lunch. The food tastes like someone's grandma cooked it with love. Found out today that Ms. Ruthie is the cook and possibly someone's grandma (I'm not going to tell her age lol). Myka, the manager, has done wonders for the place. Decor is still beautiful. Staff pleasant and attentive. The quality, portion size and price of the meal gets an A+.
This place is amazing! Our server was super friendly and courteous. She made sure we had absolutely everything that we needed and cleared our plates before we even knew they were gone. My nephew had the French toast and he said it was the best he’s ever had. I opted for the millionaire breakfast and the waffle was amazing. They also have some amazing bacon! I would highly recommend this place if you’re downtown and looking for a bite to eat for either breakfast or lunch. Give this place a try! You won’t be disappointed!! ????????????????????☕️
I've eaten there twice since opening.
I must profess, the owner, a young at heart gentleman named Andy, is a friend of mine. I know several restaurant owners who will tell you that I'm brutally honest and am not biased.
The 1st time I was there I was w my wife and a friend .
We all had a homestyle lunch that was excellent especially the cornbread. Server was great.
Love the retro look, though the acoustics suffer a little because of the height of the ceilings.
This most recent visit was for a breakfast meeting that was attended by at least 15 others.
We had a private room that has great space for plenty of people. The room has a high ceiling as well. There is a great skylight centered above.
We ordered off the menu, not a buffet, not prearranged meals. The server handled everything quite well. Everyone appeared pleased to me. There were standard & classic b-fasts, and upgraded upscale meals as well. Check the sight out here on Google maps and see for yourself what a new lil secret restaurant we have in downtown Shreveport. Recommend for breakfast or a quick lunch.
After we waited 25 minutes for a table, we were seated and waited another 20 minutes for the waitress to even take our order, then another 25 minutes for our food to come out, 4 different people waited on us. 1st that seated us, she left mid shift, 2nd said she was a new employee, she was clearly barely keeping up, 3rd might have been a cook/owner she was pleasant but refilled my coffee and forgot to bring more creamer, finally a customer at another table went to the workstation and got his own creamer and she sent mine back via the other customer. 4th employee was pulled from the kitchen to help catch up the front she was nice and she was running around refilling drinks, then bussing tables, she was trying, it was chaotic! My food would have been better if it had not cooled before I got to eat it, waffle was dry, forgot syrup for the waffle, no spoon for my grits (very delicious grits cooked well, creamy, and perfectly seasoned) but had to eat them with a fork and finally gave up. I think the millionaire bacon is fantastic. So overall I was disappointed in the experience, the food was okay but okay is not enough for me to ever want to go thru the dysfunction ever again.
My sister and I came in and it was our first time. It was seat yourself. That’s fine. However, we sat there waiting and waiting & did not get served. At first I thought it was because my sister was not seated because she had to move the car, but when she came back we still got no service. We were noticing how other people were sitting down and getting served immediately, but not us! It made us feel left out because we were the only black people seated in the restaurant so we left! We do not do anywhere we are not welcomed! Thank you!
Love this place!! The food was delicious. We love going to local places and supporting the local people when we go out of town. This was our first time here and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great breakfast place. Everything we had was ex
