The Getaway St. Pete: A Mixed Experience
The Getaway, nestled along the waterfront,
offers scenic views and a relaxed atmosphere. However, my recent visit left me with mixed feelings.
Drinks and Cocktails: The drinks were decent, but the absence of happy hour prices was disappointing. Each cocktail set me back $13.
Food Quality: Unfortunately, the food didn’t match the picturesque setting. Our party of six encountered some disappointments:
Taco Salad with Beef: This dish was extremely greasy and far from enjoyable.
Hamburger with Pork: Bland and lacking flavor.
French Fries: Frozen and not freshly cut.
Waterfront Views: On the bright side, the views of the water were truly delightful.
Service: The service was average, falling short of any exceptional experience.
Pricing: For an entrée and one cocktail, the bill averaged $50 per person, including tip.
In summary, while The Getaway offers a beautiful location, the overall experience didn’t quite meet expectations. If you’re seeking ambiance and views, it’s worth a visit, but be prepared for the price tag.
Had table along water, nice breeze. Had soft shell sandwich, soft shells were very small, however they were delicious. Seemed to be short staff, our server seemed overwhelmed at times, very friendly and polite. We were patient. Will definitely go back
We had a table for 3 on a Thursday at 11:30. It's a beautiful oasis. The venue was limited but plenty to choose from. There are so many cocktails to choose from. We had 5 beverages on the bill, and all of them were tasty and had a kick. Our server(will add name soon) was a great server and handsome. ????. I will definitely be back soon and often. Great little Getaway on the way home during rush hour for me. Thank you!
My lady friend and I visited this location today for a quick lunch and some drinks. The atmosphere of the getaway is fantastic. It’s right in the water with a few open bars and outdoor seating that allows for you to really enjoy the bay and the boats and scenery. We were served by Grant the bartender. He was kind, informative, and professional. We ordered a fish dip that came out very fast, less than 5 minutes, and was very tasty. I inquired on what fish was used in the dip and never did find out, but that’s okay, it was fresh and tasted good, I enjoyed it for what it was. I am currently standing on their dock, enjoying my day and this beautiful Florida sunshine while I write this review. I would strongly recommend visiting this location, I most certainly will be back.
Atmosphere is great. Truly beautiful place. But seating is a free for all. No reservations or hostess seating. So you just have to be a vulcher, and find a seat. Couldn't find a spot after a couple laps. So we left. Too bad.
Getaway from here! Really disappointed in our experience.
3 of us sat down on a Friday night at 7:45 and just ordered 3 entrees. The place was busy, but not slammed, maybe half the restaurant was filled. Anyway, we order shortly after sitting, but we did not receive our food until 9:20! Over an hour and a half after we ordered. When we inquired about our food, the server just told us Friday and Saturday nights are ‘bad’ for the kitchen.
Once it arrived, the food was very underwhelming. The tacos were bland and the side of rice tasted like Uncle Ben’s. You could tell the effort put into these dishes was pretty minimal. Not to mention they’re charging just about $25 for this entree (2 small tacos and a side of rice) which is a total rip off.
Won’t be coming back. Long wait, overpriced, and just not good. Much better options in the area!
We arrived by boat, docked, and had the perfect spot close to the water. We had a few appetizers, some drinks, and enjoyed the scenery. There were tons of families/kids and would recommend for a family lunch spot for sure. We had the tuna nachos, calamari, buffalo cauliflower, kids chicken tenders, blackened mahi sandwich, lavender mojito. Food was better than expected for a beachy type restaurant and will definitely be back
Awesome location on the water with several bars and thatch tiki umbrellas to sit under. Saw several dolphins swimming next to their pier and docks.
Margarita and buffalo chicken wrap were both good. We tried the buffalo cauliflower, which was good, but half of it was still frozen. The server took the item of our bill with no hassle.
Drinks and food are a little pricey but well worth the amazing atmosphere.
Kayaks and paddleboard rentals are also right next door.
