Best KPortal Reviews

This is the place to hang out with your friends and loved ones. The view is spectacular and definitely worth it.
The food is in large portions and ???? delicious!!
Great vibe!
Oh my God what a gem! Simply spectacular views of Chula Vista harbor and my shrimp cocktail was the BOM! I eat out a lot and this place is one of my faves! And prices are very good ! Will drive out of my way to come here again
UPDATE: We wanted to give the fish and chips another try. We took a chance ordering it to-go, for fear it would not taste good by the time we got home. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The fish was hot and were quality size pieces. The fries were a little limp and soggy, but we just stuck them in the air fryer for a few minutes. The tartar sauce was a good amount. Overall we were pleased and will return for the fish and chips, but will definitely do takeout. The music is way too loud and according to other reviews, the service is still slow. Might as well enjoy it in the comfort of my own home. I added another star. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️
PREVIOUS review: Being a Chula Vista native, I used to frequent The Galley quite often but it’s been about 8 years since my last visit. The circulating Instagram reel of their fish & chips “reeled” us back in. Let me preface that we waited several minutes at the hostess stand to be seated and another lengthy time waiting for our server to arrive with water and ask for drinks. It was about 5:30 PM on a Friday, so slightly busy but not full swing yet. My husband and I both wanted the fish and chips but we didn’t want to order the same entrée, so I ordered the BLTA and he got the fish and chips. My son ordered the prime rib melt sandwich. The pirate punch cocktail was reasonably priced at $12 and was very good. A runner delivered the sandwich entrées. Twelve minutes later and my husband still has not received his fish and chips. Our server came by to check on us and was surprised he hadn’t received his meal. She presented with it a few minutes later. Sadly, the fish and chips was nearly cold and limp by that point. It was probably ready at the same time as ours, but clearly overlooked. Our sandwiches were mediocre; nothing stellar, but edible. I could tell the fish and chips has potential if served in a timely manner, so I do want to return to experience it hot and crispy. I am willing to adjust the stars in my review if I’m pleased with our next visit. I do want to mention our server was pleasant and doing her best considering the rush.
This is a great location for a seafood restaurant. Every outside table has a view of the Marina. We got the Fish and Chips. The coleslaw was a bit heavy on the mayonnaise, but was still good. The crispy fries exceeded our expectations, and were very good. The fish was fresh, light, and fluffy, and perfectly coated in a light tempura batter. Excellent! It's the best we've ever had. The only negative of the dining experience was the 4% surcharge on the bill. Minus one star. It would be better and more transparent to just increase your prices by 4% and not add it on to the end like a resort fee on a hotel.
The food was pretty good here and fairly priced for what I ordered: soup of the day (lobster bisque) and two baja shrimp tacos.
They also honor veterans discount here.
They had a live band playing, which was really cool.
There are several dining areas from inside with booths and tables and a full bar. The outside has seating where you can see the marina, small tables and large tables. I saw another outside dining area that was a tent.
The decor was pretty nice, and the whole place has a classic feel to it.
Most of the crowd seemed to be upper middle aged to the elderly, yet still lovely and fun.
The wait staff is very good. My server was Isabel, a real sweetheart, and a very attentive host.
This is a good place to bring a group of friends, family, or for a laid-back date for fun, or even solo to get a feel for the locals and food.
We had a wonderful spontaneous early Friday night dinner and really enjoyed ourselves. The manager was amazing and came by to apologize about a minor order mixup and stayed to to talk for a bit. We were very appreciative of his concern and enjoyed our chat.
Not what it used to be. This place used to be fun and lively. There was a horrible band that took more breaks than they played, which was fine since it was mediocre jazz. Sad.
We were all jammed at tables all together as it seemed there was a lack of wait staff. Took over 20 min for a waitress and she never apologized. Food was served faster, but a side of fries came halfway through the meal. Fish and chips were good, but many items on the menu have disappeared. Entree salads no longer come with garlic toast, only soups. Very Berry Chicken Salad was more lettuce and less chicken and other toppings than it used to have. Tasted good though.
Hopefully this was just an off night. This is pretty new management and a regular there also noted things have been going downhill. Think the pending redevelopment and economy may finally have hit this restaurant. Very sad since it was an institution here in the South Bay.
Me and my honey ate here today for our 3rd yr anniversary. It was really nice atmosphere. They had heaters. Service from Kassandra was amazing! She complimented my new kicks! She provided high quality service and the meal was amazing! - portion size was big! A good thing me and my man were sharing cus my tummy couldn't handle anymore! ????????????Keep up good work!
