Charming weekend getaway. My husband and I loved our stay at the Foxie! We stayed in the Blue Room and enjoyed the comfy king bed and clawfoot bath tub. Our breakfast included a baked French toast dish that was absolutely delicious! Overall, impressed with the service, comfort, and central location to explore Sutter Creek!
Stayed in the same room as the past, before new owner. Sadly we'll never return. No one on site. They give a phone # as well as a different text number, tried both 2 times and never received a response. Creamer in room curled in my coffee. TV didn't work. Torn towels. Ordered breakfast for 1st morning, told chef wasn't able to accommodate us. Funny since we were the only ones on the property. Main house locked, couldn't use lobby to get together with our friends. Terrible experience. Our room cost $650 for two nights. Our friends were going to stay Sunday night but they checked out early.
Worst experience ever! Felt like a "bait and switch". Website shows it as a friendly, gathering place. People smiling and eating etc. Bah! I had planned this wonderful weekend in Sutter Creek with my family and could not be more disappointed. 1. It was like a Ghost town. Could not even get into the main house. No greeting, no charm. Everything was done by text/or email. Even Ordering your breakfast!! It was robotic and impersonal. |The internet service was spotty so trying to meet the "strict Ordering timelines" was difficult. |The food - Horrible. They described a much different menu than what you received. (by the way, you only were served in your room, or in the garden outside at specific times). No mingling with guests or the innkeeper!. Is there an Innkeeper???Everything was packaged and the "hot breakfast" was a microwaved sandwich! Portions were small and measured. Coffee was only in a machine in your room.|We have always liked B&B becasue they are homey and welcoming. Innkeepers who greet you, offer you a beverage or a treat, prepare a breakfast for you, let you relax in the main house and mingle if you want. This was NOTHING like that. A hotel room would have been better.|As for the room, they are dated and felt oppressive with the amount of "dust catching" material everywhere. Vallences and canopy over bed was heavy material pleated. And all this for a huge nightly fee! Bah!|This was NOT because of any "covid" reasons, this was June, 2023. It is just bad management. |
Luxury Inn, Bah! The website really fooled us. We expected a great weekend, until we arrived. The atmosphere was cold and quiet. The main house is not accessbile, i thought they were CLOSED. No humans involved. Everything is done by phone (or email). With the spotty cell service, this was even harder. There were written "directions" or "polices" for everything. You must read and follow all the directions. It got to be a "joke" and after the gazillionith text, i asked if there was a PERSON that could TALK with me!!
The breakfast was a Joke for $250 a night. It was not a cooked breakfast or human prepared. It was a microwaved croussant sandwich or a fruit cup!! The rooms were overly dated with copius amounts of fabric and pleated everywhere. Over the bed, window valances, etc. The chairs were dainty and not comfortable. The TV was a small cube in the closet that might get reception. I was so dissappointed. The only thing good was the location. I missed the homey experience of relaxing in the main house, having a hot cooked breakfast and chatting with an Innkeeper about the area or history of the house. None of that was there. Beware, I wouldn't go there if i were you!
A charming Victorian Mansion in the Sierra Nevada region. The Inn is located on Main Street but in a surprisingly wonderful environment. Our Anniversary room was lovingly cared for with all the comfort and elegant amenities. The owner of the Inn is extremely thoughtful and caring who pays attention to every detail. The parking facility on the property is nice. This Inn is a haven for the foodies. Two course delicious breakfast was served each morning in a garden setting. The kitchen is run by an award winning chef who not only prepares daily breakfast, but also prepares dinner for the guests in a private setting upon request. The four course dinner we had one night was memorable. We also had the luxury of getting private messages in a parlor within the property organized by the owner. I highly recommend the private dining and the message experience.
We have also enjoyed- wine testing in the local wineries, visit to the historic Knight Foundry and local shops along the Main Street.
Overall it was an unforgettable experience for my wife and I. We will return to Foxie in heartbeat.
We had a wonderful two night stay in the Blue Room. This is a large room with great natural lighting. The remote check-in & out was surprisingly nice. Usually, I like in-person communication when staying at a new place but the lines of communication were on point. They sent a couple of emails prior to our visit with thorough descriptions of how to check-in and where our room was located. Then, the day of check-in, they started texting us to welcome our arrival. Once we arrived, they greeted us again via text and reminded us to place our breakfast order for the next morning, before 5pm. There are notes throughout the room and fresh cookies and water to greet you. Loved the cookies!
The first night of our stay, we sat out in the garden area and enjoyed the peace. I wish the water feature would have been working but that's just our personal preference because we love water features. We did order the Breakfast in Bed option for the next morning which was nice and relaxing. The food was delivered on time and was beautifully displayed. You could tell they put a lot of care into making the meal as special as possible.
The Foxie is pretty much right at the beginning of town on Main Street which makes it very easy to come back and forth throughout the day in case you purchase too much. ~LOL
We plan on staying at The Foxie again! We'll probably try one of the other rooms just to see another theme but I am worried it won't hold up to the experience we had in the Blue Room. Thank you, for the lovely experience!
We recently spent our 28th Wedding Anniversary at the Inn and loved every second of it. The gardens are beautiful and due to the Covid restrictions we had breakfast there each morning, which was a treat. The food is excellent and eating in the garden was wonderful. Our room was a step back in time but with all the amenities anyone would need. It was quiet and so comfortable. The new owner is a delightful young lady who was very gracious and welcoming, Everything about this Inn is wonderful. the staff, the food, the gardens, the whole experience was amazing. We spent a day in the Amador Wine country, which is close and convenient. We fell in love with the Inn and the city of Sutter Creek. We will definitely be back; hopefully, soon.
Any visit to Sutter Creek should include a stay at The Foxie. It’s perfectly located on the Main Street, has clean and updated rooms, and a unique charm that helps you relax and rejuvenate. From breakfast on the terrace with locally made jams and pastries to perfectly curated recommendations on how to make the most of your stay in Sutter Creek the team at The Foxie created a memorable stay for my friends and I. I can’t wait to return, and would highly recommend this place to anyone.
