Best KPortal Reviews

Relish tray was presented beautifully and the selections were decent with just a bit too many sweet options for my taste. The cast iron cinnamon roll was tasty if not just a bit undercooked in the middle. Unfortunately, they were not serving their entire menu until 2 p.m. so our options were limited. Given the other dining options in the area, I'm not sure I'd make this an evening destination unless you live close and have exhausted other, better establishments. Really disappointed they were only serving brunch. That said, our server was fantastic: very attentive and accurate.
We enjoyed the atmosphere and food immensely! Zacharias is wonderful server, and very professional. The cinnamon roll is absolutely the best we have had in forever! Not super sweet, just right! All around, amazing!
What a great spot! We enjoyed brunch so much. Delish bloody Mary’s, the Brie appetizer was amazing, we loved our omelets and the espresso martini for dessert was just perfect. The server was so kind and took excellent care of us! Loved all the details in the space as well.
The fountain room has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Indy. The ease of the attached parking garage is great. Sometimes with downtown establishments parking can be a nightmare. The art deco styling is also perfect and just eye catching. I found myself just admiring it at different times throughout the meal. Table placement left plenty of room between tables so you don’t feel cramped or on top of other patrons. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and even gave me a signed card for my birthday which was a nice touch. Now.. for the food. Everything we tried was just amazing. So flavorful, fresh, and cooked perfectly. I got the fillet, my bf got the meatloaf. We also tried the sausage puff pastry appetizer and a side of lobster Mac which is definitely the size of a full entree worth of food. So we did have lots of leftovers to take home. Each item was better than the last. This has been my favorite steak that I have ever eaten. I haven’t tried all the steak restaurants by any means and Indy has no shortage of great steak restaurants but I’ll take the Fountain Room steak over Iozzos, Geraldine’s, McCormicks & Schmidt’s, Fogo, or Ruth Chris and I think that says a lot. And the lobster mac left its own impression that has me planning to come back just for it alone.
The atmosphere and decorations of the restaurant are really cool. The service was great and very welcoming. However, one of our steaks was undercooked and the other was over cooked. The lobster bisque was good, but our appetizer of homemade bread was very plain. The food overall was simply mediocre. It was not worth the high price at all.
We had reservations at another restaurant for our anniversary and stopped by the bar for a few drinks before heading back to the hotel. Nicola overheard our conversation and found out that two couples out of our group were celebrating our wedding anniversary. She highlighted everything the fountain room has to offer food and service wise and even offered to run to the store to get ingredients to prepare 1 of our favorite dishes that wasn’t on the menu! We were sold and switched our reservation to the fountain room and was not disappointed one bit. It’s hard to find customer service at this level anywhere and the food was excellent. We will definitely be back whenever we are in town again!
JJ was our server and he was outstanding. He made great recommendations and very personable. The Brie brûlée was incredible and the French dip with fries were just amazing. We will return!
I'll start with the atmosphere was very cozy and date night worthy - but be warned!!! Here's what to expect when you get there. Mind you I've ate at many many on the upscale end of steakhouses and this is definitely one I'm really disappointed in especially for being my first time there.
STEAKS - You'll be greeted by a nice hostess and will have very good service. Other than that, there's some serious downfalls mainly pertaining to steaks which are extremely expensive for what you get and THE MAIN THING that should actually be right. I never mind paying that price but only if it's cooked right the first time. This experience definitely put a really bad taste in my mouth. Anyways .... I've seen a FEW reviews on here recently on how bad the steaks were cooked. Under done or over something is obviously not getting through to the cooking staff. Still they're not able to get it in order here!!!! I ordered a medium steak and received one that was almost medium rare in the middle (it's 7 oz how hard is it?). They took it back and instead of my 7 oz steak they gave me a 10 oz steak which ended up being rare in the middle. I'm not understanding why they KEEP apologizing and promising to do something with staff and cooks and say / do something about it. It's obviously not working on the management side. You cannot charge that much money for a steak and get it wrong for all these people. Obviously you having to to give out all the free food and free gift cards isn't working as an incentive for you to control the kitchen. If you want to be considered somewhere somebody wants to go to get steak I would PASS on it. All the promises to the public don't mean anything if there's no follow-through. By the time they got my order correct he had ate all his l HUGE prime rib and I'm still sitting there waiting to just get my steak. Prime rib is fairly easy to get the right temp so there's the good part for the kitchen and chef ????????????????.
SIDES - The sides were good and cooked BUT on top of the whole steaks disaster I also had to send back the broccolini because it came out ice cold. I assume it was sitting there waiting for my steaks to cook.
The broccolini had a different taste to it which was a little spicy but definitely complimented it. The mashed potatoes were also good and I can't say enough about the monkey bread. It was delicious. I would love to come back BUT with all these reviews including mine, I don't see a point in it since nothing is being done obviously.
The hotel across the street is pretty ritzy and I would even tell them to totally avoid this place unless you want to spend almost 1 1/2 hours (Yes I timed it because I always give an honest review - tier 8 reviewer - and had saw reviews on the amount of time it took to get service, food and drinks) to eat. It took 8 minutes for my drinks, 20 minutes for the appetizers and the food came out 30 minutes later so you can see how long we sat there and waited and waited for my steak to get right. Should've just went with sides but we saw how that went. I don't need an apology or a promise. Actions speak louder than words ????????????????
