I recently had the chance to visit The Flying Biscuit Cafe in Midtown Atlanta, a spot that's been on my and my out-of-town friend's to-visit list for a while. The anticipation was high, especially with the rave reviews about their breakfast menu. My brother and I went for the eggs, biscuits, and gravy, accompanied by grits and a side of bacon. My friend opted for the Georgia peach waffle, also with a side of bacon.
Starting with the positives, the service was efficient and courteous, embodying the quick and direct approach that gets you in and out without much delay. It's worth noting, though, that the cafe has a strict full-party presence policy before seating, which we saw enforced rather strictly.
As for the food, the grits were surprisingly the highlight of the meal for me - and I'm not usually a fan. They were creamy and well-seasoned, a pleasant surprise amidst an otherwise underwhelming experience. The eggs and biscuits were standard fare, nothing to write home about but satisfactory. However, the chicken sausage gravy left much to be desired. It was bland, lacking in both depth and the expected savory punch of salt.
My friend's Georgia peach waffle, while aesthetically pleasing with its generous peach topping and drizzle of syrup and cream, fell short on texture. The waffle itself was dry on the inside, which was a disappointment given the promising appearance.
A side note for future visitors: the cafe doesn't offer much flexibility in terms of menu substitutions or customizations, so be prepared to choose directly from the menu.
Despite the bustling lines and the local hole-in-the-wall atmosphere that usually signifies a gem, the food didn't quite live up to our expectations. While the experience wasn't all negative, thanks to the service and a couple of satisfactory dishes, the lackluster flavors in what should have been the meal's highlights make me hesitant to return. For those drawn in by the cafe's popularity, I'd recommend tempering expectations, especially if you're a fan of rich, flavorful breakfast classics.
OMG……I am so sorry. I forgot to snap a pic when I got my food. It was good though. ???? I went for their anniversary today and took my coworker to lunch. Neither of us had eaten at The Flying Biscuit before. The restaurant was very easy to find. It sits on the corner of 10th street and Piedmont, but Lord!!!!!!! Parking is absolutely atrocious!!!! Thankfully there is a lot right next to/ behind the building, but Jesus!!!!!! It’s tight and there aren’t many spots. If you have an suv, you are not going to be able to park here. My coworker and I got the flying biscuit breakfast; eggs, chicken sausage patties, grits, and a biscuit. Our server was named Lexi and she was really nice. The decor in the restaurant was eclectic and cute. There is art all over the walls and ceiling. Our food came out super fast and it was hot. We both enjoyed the meal. My coworker said her biscuit kept falling apart, but she enjoyed it still. The grits were super creamy. So much so, that they almost didn’t event taste like grits. They were so good. The chicken sausage was tasty and not greasy at all. My biscuit………was amazing. I needed you to pause for those few seconds to give respect to how good the biscuit tasted. I do have an after picture of my plate. Sorry again…….I was really excited. We only paid $11.27 for two meals. They add a credit card processing fee when you pay using a card. I’d definitely go back here, but I’d have to be in the neighborhood already or taking Uber. This would be a great place to eat breakfast before a day at Piedmont park.
We had such a great experience here! The service was so friendly and the food was top notch. I was so impressed! Parking is free and available directly behind the building. Just park in designated Flying Biscuit customer spots.

My warning to you is this - if you’re coming for breakfast biscuits, be ready to fill yourself full or split the order. The portion sizes and generous.
This was my first time here and I must say I wasn’t disappointed, the moon potatoes were delicious and the biscuits truly melted into my mouth with the cranberry apple butter no words could explain the taste of excellence. I topped my day off with oatmeal and teas, which was delicious too. Now my server Alex was great and very Attentive. I will definitely come again.
Down-to-earth spot with top-notch breakfast. The chicken chorizo hash is fantastic!! The biscuit is very good. Highly recommend one of the hashes or the straight up egg biscuit. Great service all around, from the door greeter, gives you everyone you need to know and then the wait staff is fantastic. Fast service, great service, great attitude. You leave happy. Feels like a nice communal, local staple
I’m at this ATL location comparing it to the two I’ve been to in Raleigh/Durham. The biscuits were horrible (maybe it was just today?) they were overcooked, dry, crunchy, and no sugar on top! They usually bring them out on a little table before your food comes out to savor but came out with our plates. The gravy for biscuits and gravy wasn’t creamy like normal. Service was a bit impatient but nothing experience-ruining.
This place is a comfortable vibe. From start to finish everyone you talk to at the restaurant is so pleasant. Joseph was our server (at the bar), he was extremely nice. My boyfriend ordered a traditional breakfast with a waffle. From his point of view the waffle was the fluffiest waffle ever. He kept reiterating how delicious it was couple with the chicken sausage. I ordered the fried green tomatoes. They were a 7 out of 10 but the cashew relish wasn’t bad. It was sweet and a tad spicy. I have no complaints. I also ordered shrimp and grits and when I tell you!!! Their grits are the best grits ever. I have no idea what method they used to make them but the grits could easily stand alone. Lastly, the homemade biscuit with apple butter was on point as well. I will be coming back and if u go as for Joseph from Louisiana
