Lovely, friendly village pub.
We went in for an afternoon drink and the bar staff were so helpful in finding out whether their North Cotswold Brewery ales were vegetarian or not.
Sadly, the ales are not, so I went for something else.
There was a good real fire and the food menu sounded filling: pies; bangers and mash and similar dishes.
We chanced upon this pub travelling from Stratford. Saw the sign to it on the Wellesbourne Rd and glad we did.
Great service from the attentive staff. Good booze and absolutely fabulous food. The roast beef and lamb Sunday roasts were just perfect. At £20 for two courses (we had desserts - also excellent) it might not be the cheapest but it was definitely worth the money. I've paid more for poorer food. Recommended 100%.
Loved the anagram over the bar too.
Excellent country pub with the most amazing Sunday lunch and excellent service. 100% recommended … you won’t be disappointed
Stopping in Stratford and some how came across this little gem when looking for somewhere to eat. Can highly reccomend, very friendly staff and customers alike.. The food was delicious, with a lovely selection of excellent home cooked, high quality food. Could not fault our visit in anyway and would highly recommend.
Lovely pub just off the main roads. Called for a drink and had we known they did food would have chosen to eat there. What we saw looked lovely. Nice out door seating area. Atmospheric inside and friendly staff. Note they don't do food on a Monday so we didn't get chance to go back
This was our first visit since the ferry changed hands.
The biggest change for us was the food.
The food is different but still good! We went on a Saturday, so can't comment on the Sunday roast but we tried a fair sample of the plates.
For starters, we had a soup and a pate. Both went down very well. The soup was a vegetable soup, thick and dull of veggie chunks. The pate was a generous wedge.
For mains, we had a steak and kidney pie, fish and chips, half roast chicken, and a fish goujon sandwich. The pie was well filled and a suet pastry for a change. Fish and chips, a fair portion and light looking batter. The half roast chicken was a fairly large bird and the fish goujon sandwich was well filled and tasty.
Dessert was a sticky toffee pudding- nice and light, and a fruit crumble with custard, slightly tart but a nice balance against the custard.
Service was fast and the team were friendly.
We will be back to try the Sunday roasts soon!
I was camping in the Wellesbourne last month and came across the Ferry. I visited most if not all the pubs in the area and this was my favourite by far. It is a lovely traditional pub in a great setting. Friendly staff and stupendous real ale. There were 2 local beers, both in great condition. Highly recommended!
Just enjoyed a meal at The Ferry. Small menu but we prefer that and food was very tasty. Service just right. Hope the new tenants make a success of it. Peter and Eileen.
