When I was told we had been booked to stay here, I was worried! The outside put me off straight away. |However don't judge a book by its cover! |We were in room 30, deluxe family room, which is in their new building behind the pub. It was beautiful, spacious, clean, modern and comfortable for all our needs. |Perfect size as had a king bed and 2 chair pull out beds for our little ones. |We ate in the pub in the evening and for breakfast. Evening meal I wouldn't say anything to write about standard pub food. Kids fish fingers were actually cod straps battered, which was impressive! |Breakfast was beautiful, nicely presented and tasted yummy. We had pancakes, eggs benedict and full English. |Some of our party were jn the main house / pub, and when they showered it leaked through the whole two floors and into the restaurant! Clearly the old pub needs some work doing to it. I'd say the carpet in the pub also needs replacing as very grim! |I would definitely stay again and would recommend!
I really liked it. Nice little almost private bungalow in the car park. Comfy beds perfect temperature and good breakfast. It was also very quiet for the centre of town. Will always come here when staying in pocklington. Also loads of tea and coffee in room
Had the Sunday lunch carvery with my wife today. Some new staff were on, everyone was friendly and helpful. Delicious meat, vegetables and Yorkshire puddings along with the gravy. Slight delay in my wife’s dessert but she enjoyed it and we will be back when I’m not on standby. It’s worth driving out 15 miles!
Bar staff were amazing. My partner and I are ex publicans, and were very impressed. However, the breakfast was absolutely appalling. Waiter confused our menu choice. He seems very confused, rather than rectifying the situation we were told to sort it out ourselves! Breakfast was over heated, portobello mushrooms did not exist. It was an offering of deep fried mushrooms. The bacon was cold and over cooked. The hashbrowns were over fried and cold. We waited 10 minutes for one slice of toast. Our waiter explained that there would be a delay because chef had burnt our toast. My partner could not function because of stomach cramps in the afternoon. Such a shame after the professionalism of the bar staff. Just don't eat the breakfast!!!! It is to be avoided!!!
Perfect place for a pint! I stay here every time I'm in town for business. Always a great time. The pubs always bumping, and the staff are friendly.
Beers always on point too, perfect amount of foam everytiiime!
Came here last Sunday for the cavery , we came late , however this didn't stop us from getting great service and even better food !
Good choice of beers also.
Very fairly priced and we will be returning ????.

Stayed for a total of two nights. Good value Chalet room. Clean and tidy. Location is very convenient for the town. All the staff were very pleasant but I would like to do a particular shout out to Mark for looking after us at a family dinner in the Restaurant. Breakfast was excellent on both days. Will certainly be visiting again.
Food okay plates a bit small for carvery food .sparse choice of veg meat reasonable. Noticed all meat cut with same knife on same board as other meat .Friendly pub atmosphere good could do with more staff.
