We visited for a meal and the pub was lovely. Small cosy pub with great atmosphere and a lovely outside covered area too. The food was super delicious and very generous portions. We have been twice now and would definitely recommend them.
Always lovely. Always great staff. You can always have a laugh with them. It's a lovely pub with great inexpensive food.
If you're looking for a good classic pub then this is the place to go.
The staff are very welcoming and friendly.
We ordered the steak and ale pie with chips
This Pie was so well filled, plenty of locally sourced meat that just fell apart, of course we went for a dessert and went for a coffee and whiskey trifle again. Very generous portions.
Overall, well priced, generous great tasting food with lovely staff. If you are in the area make sure you ring to book a table as you may struggle.
Incredible from start to finish. The food was INCREDIBLE with a great variety of things to choose from and such huge portions too! The service was great and the staff were really friendly! The entire place was really clean and a great atmosphere. Very much recommend this as a place to eat!
We stayed just around the corner from this nice Hotel and ate there 3 or 4 times. The food is delicious. You do get an awful lot, value for money. Staff very helpful and friendly. Second time of visiting and we hope to go again in the future.
Came here for an evening meal as we were staying in the village. Service was reasonably quick and very friendly. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The decor is rather strange (we were in a room with "bookshelf" wallpaper) but the 10 year old who was with us loved pretending it was a bookshop and would find the books we ordered. The range of beers could be better (no dark ales). I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area and want a good meal.
I went for food with my family. The staff were lovely, and the setting was beautiful, meaning the two stars given. Sadly, the food was very below par. The garlic mushroom & rice starter was the worst starter I've ever had. That isn't hyperbole. It was a culinary disaster. Some weird silky texture to the sauce was lacking in any kind of garlic, nor cheese. It was served on plain, overcooked white rice. There were several mushrooms involved but they were few in number. Honestly, disaster.
The burger was VERY expensive at £13. It came with some cheese, and in between a white bun that could've both been from Tesco basics. That was it though. The burger came with peas, and the chips served were frozen, not homemade. The patty was great, but significantly let-down by the rest of the burger.
The food is good old proper family food, very well cooked, delicious and plenty of it.
My favourite is the bread-and-butter pudding, they even saved me some when I called in next day. We will be there on Boxing Day and will stay in the area for a week, looking forward to meeting up again with the wonderful staff.
