Woke early this morning
to get in a few bakery stops
before my tart class later today
… and The Emporio in Stoneham, MA
is the absolute star of my
product research field trip!
A completely adorable young-ish Italian baker (with a familiar familial accent????) creates the most lovely and wonderfully tasting delicacies from her homeland where she was a baker in Turin.
I highly recommend this off-the-beaten track little bakery that exudes the love of Italian cooking that I grew up with… smells divine! This bakery is located in Stoneham but I overheard her saying that she is looking for a larger place soon.
Yay! I love seeing people with passion that produce excellent products do well!
Brava!! Brava!!
I’ll be back!
Within the past 6 months, this husband and wife team packed up their belongings and left behind their home country of Italy to bring their little cafe of delicious food and coffee to America (previously they ran a cafe located in Italy / and there they were serving up American desserts). They struggled with the difficulty making ends meet in Italy due to high taxes and government overhead and are super excited to be in Massachusetts. They make the breads, desserts, and the other food in house. This is primarily a take out shop focused on breakfast and lunch, but they have a couple of sit down tables as well. They had originally planned on opening shop up in Providence, but after that property lease fell through, they heard about the availability of this space and leased it sight unseen from Italy. Make sure you check out this little gem of a restaurant. I tried out an iced americano, a sandwich, and a pastry during my visit, excellent food across the board.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Emporio Deli and Bistrot, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The Alba, Venezia, and Genova dishes were not only delicious but also showcased the chef's culinary expertise. The prices were surprisingly affordable, considering the high quality of the food. What impressed me the most was the generous serving sizes, ensuring a satisfying and fulfilling dining experience. I highly recommend The Emporio Deli and Bistrot for its delectable dishes, reasonable prices, and ample portions. Definitely a 5-star dining destination!
A Must Destination if you are visiting Stoneham!
Stopped in for a brunch bite, and it was great! We ordered focaccia sandwiches and the pastry of the day (apple cinnamon). The folks working were super friendly and glad to chat. Everything was very fresh and delicious! A nice little spot to sit, but decided to bring it to the park. We'll be back to try more. Or even just grab some fresh bread.
Update:
A week later we came here for dinner because we had to know! We got here right on time because this place gets BUSY. We ordered garlic bread to start and it was perfection in every way. Alongside that we got the lasagna and mushroom pasta. Both were delicious, flavorful, and everything tasted home cooked. The lasagna was the perfect balance of the sweetness of the tomatoes, heartiness of the beef, and creamy cheese. The mushroom pasta was not too heavy, and had a nutty flavor.
The only downside is with meals like this is that it does take a while. The wait times were slightly longer than your typical sandwich spot… but it’s SO worth it.
We also got the fruit tart for dessert. The tart and cream alone were good, but they had this interesting orange berry fruit that gave an amazing kick.

Y’ALL!! This little cafe is a hidden GEM in Stoneham. They just opened up in October (posting this in January), and if you’re in the area you must try.
For context, we came here later on Sunday around noon (they close at 1), and got breakfast sandwiches and ate at the cafe.
We ordered the Alba (egg and cheese on focaccia) and Genova (egg, cheese, eggplant, tomato and pesto on focaccia). To start, the bread is delicious. It’s perfectly buttered/oiled and balances crispy and soft in each bite. The eggs are fried perfectly, with the most delicious cheeses. The Alba sandwich had a rich, heavy cheese that was great on its own. The Genova had fresh ingredients, and a delicious pesto sauce. The eggplant was meaty and filling.
We loved every bite of both sandwiches and can’t wait to come in to try the rest of the menu. I appreciate the quality of service especially since we were there close to the end of the day for them.
The service is friendly and the chef is willing to answer any questions you may have. The cafe is small, I’m curious how it would be for a larger meal, but for breakfast it was perfect.
Lastly, for the price, portions, and taste it was so worth it. A must try ❤️
Where's the button for 10 stars? The owners transformed this restaurant from a Chinese food health hazard to a spotless boutique featuring handmade, small batch, authentic Italian recipes. As good or better than the many places I've dined at in the North End over the past 40 years. Try it, you'll love it. The pasta e fagioli and focaccia I had today was out of this world. Lovely people.
We finally stopped in here the other day to grab lunch and the sandwiches were absolutely delicious! Everything was very fresh, so we also grabbed croissants for breakfast the next day - also delicious. We will definitely be going back again. Can’t wait to try the dinner entrees!
Absolutely lovely and authentic Italian cafe. Delightfully hospitable owner, delicious espresso and beautiful food.
