Despite living quite close, I had never been before but decided to book for Christmas Dinner - we like to try somewhere different each year.
The staff greeting guests were friendly and helpful.
Our table wasn't quite ready as we were a little early but we were shown to the bar and they came to get us within five minutes.
Our table was nicely decorated with napkins, crackers and a Christmas card from the whole staff. Nice little touch and thoughtful!
We had soup for starters and I was impressed as I was given sunflower margarine for my bread (I am veggie)
The starter was a lovely, thick winter vegetable soup and was very tasty.
Main was carvery for me and salmon for the other half. Great selection of vegetables - I've never seen such big roast potatoes - and they were clearly marked which ones were cooked in beef dripping and which weren't.
The Yorkshire puds were massive too.
The Christmas pudding was just the right amount and very tasty.
The lady serving us was attentive, checking often that we were happy with the food.
Outstanding food and service from start to finish.
Will be visiting again.
Thank you
Kath served my friend and I today.A very friendly and pleasant lady.Nothing was too much trouble for her.
Please can you put notices up to remind customers who are using the car park to enter their registration number into the machine on entrance to the pub.
Overall a lovely lunchtime
Served by pagan this evening, was told beforehand that she was training, and being monitored by Tom, she was very attentintive and a polite young lady. The food was amazing as ever.
Visited before
Was Happy with the service
But on this visit
We were asked to pay for our meal before??
But we hadn't ordered the Drinks and desert....
A weird way of working
We go to other Toby Carvery
The others don't ask you to pay for upfront
The Food was Great here
Staff didn't seem approachable
Didn't even get a 'How is your meal
And A' Thanks and Goodbye'
The server called cath was extremely rude, was sat waiting while she decided to talk to another member of staff about her holiday to Spain eventually acknowledged us asked what we wanted to then never bring us are drink and then go to the table behind us who had just arrived and take they drink orders when my friend said excused me she held up her hand and abruptly said 2 mins, after the complete lack of customer service we decided to leave. Will not be returning to this establishment and believe cath should receive additional training.
All our needs were met. Great customer service. Staff friendly and considerate. Food was lovely. Easy to move around.
Used to visit here a few years ago and found that today this place has gone downhill. Being in a heatwave there is no air con and one family decided to leave just after arrival due it being too hot. My cappuccino came and was nearly cold so had to return it. One of our glasses had a sharp chip on the edge where you drink from it! The waitress who brought our food didn't even acknowledge us. The noise from the manager's jingling keys slightly irritating. On a positive note the chocolate fudge cake is still great! won't be returning.
Lovely family meal , food lovely . Relaxing venue . Service Amazing!! Kath was really helpful and great service
