Took a detour off the coast path to call in for a pint before catching the bus back to Weymouth. A friendly little pub that’s reasonably priced. Muddy boots welcomed too!
2nd time here whilst on holidays & yet another top notch carvery Sunday lunch! So tasty, generous portions, and so reasonably priced. Staff all lovely & friendly & so welcoming. Went out of their way to accommodate us in the beer garden as there were no tables left inside. Look forward to visiting again! Xx
let's start with the drinks. They didn't have what I wanted, so they provided me with a suitable alternative to what I had ordered. the menu had a good selection of different foods to try, and I was looking forward to the king burger that I had ordered. Then came THE WAIT. 1 hour and 30 minutes of tummy rumbling and being told 'the food will be here shortly' and them offering a drink on the house, I finally received my food. It was strange because it came with not the onion rings that it said on the menu but a portion of low quality chips that weren't even mentioned beforehand, I asked what had happened to the onion rings and was presented with 3 uncooked depressed rings of onion. The burger seemed to be made out of ingredients bought from a corner shop, and the salad was lacking the basic parts (e.g, tomatoes). The reasoning we got given for such a poor experience was that they were busy even though only 3 of 7 tables were being used. In their defence, they had ONE member of staff missing, but why didn't they have any backup? In conclusion , I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant at all costs.
Looked like it's been done up recently. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly. Expect solid portions of tasty British food rather than fine dining. Kids menu was OK.
Atmosphere was a bit flat as we were the only ones in but it was midweek out of high season.
Although a small place, the food and range of food for a Sunday Carvery was excellent. The medium and large carvery offered a mix of 3 meats, plus 9 veg, gravy (obviously made from meat juices), apple/mint/horseradish sauces.
Really not good at all.
Service was fine, food was very poor.
Interior was grubby and so were the tables, mats and utensils.
Local clientèle vaping in the bar and belching at each other put my partner off his food.
The chips were good, not worth £45 for the meal for a few good chips though.
We won't be returning.
Nice, clean well kept pub. Great service. Nice stop on a circuit wall around Portland
A very pleasant lunch with friends at this small but very friendly and well presented pub. Nice simple meals and a good choice for vegetarians, too.
