Excellent historical village pub. Loved by locals and tourists alike.
A real gem and the heart of the community.
A friendly pub with good, often changing beer and good food of very good value. My last trout was special. My last lamb burger even better
The Duke at Clifton is a local pub which attracts many from afar, it has a good sized pitch for camping both tents and caravans. They also have some unique glamping motor homes they need to be checked out on the website, plenty of parking and the pub itself looks like a listed building and is very nice both in and outside. Drinks are reasonable and there is plenty of outdoor space, what lets this pub down is both the staff hanging around the bar area and the food. Put quite simply the food is not to a good standard and is over priced / Recently visited ordered 2 x Sirloin steaks medium rare and they were both full of gristle - we also ordered a seafood mix grill over cooked, dry and tbh looked like it was left over food they needed to get rid of which is a shame! I think they need to get a qualified chef / sous chef with a redesigned menu for us we would return for a drink only but not until the standard of food changes I don’t expect to pay for below par standard of food! Such a shame as this pub with the right level and standard of food could be a gold mine for the owners
Great motorhomes stopover. Not to far off the M40.
Loads of space, cleanish showers and toilets, good for dogs to get out for a run about.
Sadly didn't manage a meal in the pub as they'd stopped service but managed a few beers....
Highly recommend and will come back if I'm in this area.

Did not stay but stopped at the pub on our journey. Was excellent. Staff were lovely drinks kept well and the egg and bacon sandwich was the best sandwich I've ever had. Warm bacon & egg still had a dippable yolk. Amazing.
Delicious Christmas fayre meal, service was very friendly and professional, Turkey was generous and succulent.
Lovely location, friendly and helpful staff. Room was lovely. We just happened to stay on one of the hottest days of the year. Very sure it's above a heater too as was hotter in there than outside making it impossible to sleep. 2 heaters provided but no fan. We couldn't ask as back from our event at midnight. Ended up leaving at 6am as just unbearable. The bath filled with dead flies so couldn't even try a cold shower.
Really not the venues fault in all honesty. Sure very lovely in the winter
Great pub, very friendly staff. Beer was excellent and food good. We camped on their small site at the back and it was good, fairly quiet and very convenient.
